  • COMPROMISE | HoFM

Top of Page COMPROMISE 2 Peter 2:1 “But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.” In our last deliverance lesson, Kings and Priests, I taught about the separation of powers that God ordained for mankind after the flood, and how Jesus has restored to us—His church—the ability to exercise His authority in both the spiritual and the physical realms. Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions (demonic spiritual entities), and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Matthew 21:21 “So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain (which is in the physical realm), “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” it will be done.’” The key to this power is the faith which comes by hearing, and the hearing of the uncompromised Word of God. Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Now you can see how important our opening text is, in relation to the power that has been given to the church. There will be false teachers among you. Peter is telling us that false teachers will come and pervert the Word of Truth that has empowered us, so that our faith is disarmed to the point that it becomes ineffective. 2 Peter 2:2 “And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed (or perverted).” We can see a mechanism here that begins to emerge. The devil knows that our Lord has given to us authority over him and over his demonic hordes. He can also see that our Lord has given to us authority over the physical realm as well; so how does he stop us from deploying our faith for the purpose of destroying his kingdom? Since the key is, that our faith comes through us hearing the Word of God, the devil’s aim is, to disarm our faith by perverting the Word of Truth that we have been taught to believe in; which are the great and precious promises that have been given to us. 2 Peter 1:3 “As (or according to) His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness (physical and spiritual), through the knowledge of Him (we know Him through the hearing of His uncompromised Word) who called us by glory and virtue.” False teachers among you who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, for the purpose of separating us from the promises in the Word of God that pertain to the dual power that has been given to us in God’s Word. 2 Peter 1:4 “By which has been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature (which allows us to exercise authority over both, the physical and the spiritual realms), having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” What is the key element that the enemy uses in order to detach us from the great and precious promises that empower us? Compromising the Word of Truth for the sake of selfish ambitions! 2 Peter 2:3 “By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” Our power is exploited through deceptive words that appeal to our physical nature and its natural desires, thereby separating us from the spiritual mind set—which is the mind of Christ—to where we become physically minded and forego our spiritual responsibilities, which are to trample on serpents and scorpions by exercising our dual authority over all the power of the enemy. Romans 8:5-7 “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death (no power), but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (power in both the physical and the spiritual realms). Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.” How do we get delivered from the negative effects on our faith, that all the deceptive words that we have been exposed to through the doctrines of false teachers that are in the ministry for self-gain, have caused us? 2 Peter 1:5 “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge.” Peter, well aware of the tactics of the devil, begins to instruct us as to how we can prevent, and also how to be delivered, from the damage that false doctrines can bring to our faith in the Word of Truth. Giving all diligence means this is a top priority, we must not take this lightly. A weak or compromised faith not only weakens our authority over the enemy, but it also lowers our covering shield that protects us. It may surprise you to know that the word virtue used by Peter as something that we need to add to our faith, means manliness, (valor). How do we add manliness, or valor, or courage to our faith? Knowledge is what adds virtue or manliness to our faith! What type of knowledge adds virtue or manliness to our faith? John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Is this not obvious to all? If belief in the perverted or compromised Word of God weakens our faith, wouldn't belief in the true and uncompromised Word of God add to our faith the strength and manliness that it needs? 2 Peter 1:6 “To knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness.” We cannot exercise control over something that we do not know or understand. Knowledge is what motivates us into exercising control over that which we know to be wrong and that we know is weakening us. Once we know the factual truth that our faith is purposely weaken by false teachers who teach perverted doctrines, we can add virtue or manliness to our faith, by courageously turning away from their demonic doctrines that we know are hurting us, thereby acting in self-control. False teachers are not going to vanish just because we find out about their false doctrines. False demonic doctrines permeate all facets of life, these false doctrines will continue with their allure for us to compromise our faith, especially in the face of the resistance and opposition that this corrupt world system continuously hurdles against our stand for the Truth of the Word of God. That is why perseverance is required of us, and what motivates us into maintaining our perseverance, is our desire for a godly life that pleases God, as we continuously walk in the self-control that is guided by the knowledge that strengthens and adds virtue/manliness to our faith. 2 Peter 1:7 “To godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.” We fulfill the Law of God, when we love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength, and when we love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Now, think about it? Since selfish desires or covetousness, are the allure that the devil uses against us; if we operate under the law of love and brotherly kindness—by putting the needs of others first—we insulate ourselves from the need to compromise that will lead us into accepting the perverted doctrines that weaken our faith in the Word of God. Philippians 2:3-4 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better that himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” This is the mind of Christ—and as long as we operate within the mind of Christ, we do not compromise the power and authority that our Lord has given to us to use on behalf of others, for their benefit, as well as ours. 2 Peter 1:8 “For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” There is a proper flow to this authority that has been given to us in our call as kings and priests to Christ—a flow that we do well to heed if we want to be effective in administering this dual power that has been vested in us. 2 Peter 1:19 “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” Since Jesus is our example, let us look at the ministry of Jesus and how He handled the physical and spiritual authority that was given to Him, as King of kings over all physical matter, and as our High Priest over all spiritual hierarchies. John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” The simplest way to put it is this, before we can rule as kings on this earth, we need to serve as priests of the Most High God. We are not to call for the destruction of our human enemies, but for their salvation. And the weapon that we are to implement on their behalf, for their deliverance from the forces of darkness that keeps them blind, is the uncompromised Word of God that shines as a light in a dark place. The Word of God is like a double edge sword, as we wield it without compromise; it shines as a light that not only delivers us personally from the allures of this world system, but it shines through us into the world, and convicts and exposes the darkness that has befallen all who have fallen for the worldly desires that binds them. And through our uncompromising stand for the Word of God it gives them hope. Psalm 18:28 “For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” Isaiah 9:2 “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.” We are the light of the world; and the light that we are to radiate can only come through the uncompromised Word of God that we live daily for all to see. Here is a true saying: If we live as priests we will reign as kings. More teachings found here: Deliverance Ministry End Times Teachings Other Teachings

  • BINDING AND LOOSING | HoFM House of Faith Ministries

Top of Page BINDING AND LOOSING Matthew 18:18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Say what you will, but Jesus is clearly talking about the awesome power that He has given to everyone that believes in Him. What is this power, and how does it work? First we need to understand that this power is a spiritual power that transcends all physical limitations—that is the good news, the bad news is that since the nature of this power is spiritual, those who are carnally minded have no clue as to how it is to be implemented. Understanding how this power works, and how to implement it, will radically change the lives of every believer that masters the how-to of this awesome gift from God. Since the source of this power is spiritual, we need to have a working understanding of how spiritual energy is released. John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life (giving energy).” The source of all life giving energy is in the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful (energy)…” The first rule of binding and loosing is that words must be spoken which are in agreement with the Word of God. A different rendering of our opening text is this: Whatever you bind on earth having been bound in heaven. This is the translation that many scholars of the original Greek believe is more accurate for this text. And it makes more sense, since we are called to enforce the Word of God here on this earth, and we know from Scripture that the Word of God is forever settled in heaven. So that whatever has already been settled in heaven is the very thing that we are to declare here on this earth. Which brings us to the nuts and bolts of this foundational principle. The disciples noticed that Jesus spent a lot of time in prayer and that His prayers were always answered. Which prompted them to ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Luke 11:2 “So He said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The key to binding and loosing is in knowing what God’s will is in whatever situation we are praying for. For example, we know that God is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance. If I am praying for someone’s salvation—be it a family member, a friend, or a foe—I can bind the spirit of unbelief that is hindering them from receiving the revelation knowledge that will bring them to God’s salvation. No body gets saved unless a believer is praying for them, but not everybody that is being prayed for gets saved, because of their unbelief. That is where binding the spirit of unbelief can make all the difference. When we pray for someone’s salvation, we are loosing the conviction of God’s Spirit over them so that they will realize that they have a need to be saved. But some people have been bound by an unbelieving spirit that does not allowed them to see their need. After we bind the spirit of unbelief that has them bound, they will be free to believe. If you have a love one, or even an enemy, for whose salvation you’ve prayed and nothing has happened yet, add to your prayer for their salvation this prayer for binding the spirit of unbelief over them: Pray this out loud: I bind, in the name of Jesus, the spirit of unbelief that is preventing (name the person that your are praying for) from receiving the conviction of the Holy Spirit that will allowed him/her to be saved. If God was willing to violate the free will that He has given to all mankind, we would not have to bind or loose anything. The devil is the deceiver—who comes in unawares—and steals man’s ability to receive God’s salvation by binding them with unclean spirits. But to those who have accepted the Word of Truth, power has been given to demolish all these demonic strongholds that keep people bound. Matthew 18:19-20 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” The second rule of binding and loosing, is in the power of agreement, not just with the Word that is forever settled in heaven, but with one another who are like-minded in our beliefs as well. When we speak in agreement with the Word of God in heaven, we are enabled to bind and to loose things here on earth. But when we add the power of agreement with one another, Jesus is in our midst. John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” It is obvious that the devil’s influence affects the masses as well as the individuals. So that as individuals we can pray binding and loosing over those who are within our sphere of influence, but as members of the church we can corporally pray for entire communities and even nations. How does it all works? Everything that God made, He made through the power of His spoken Word. Everything that exists today, it is maintained and sustained by the power of His spoken Word. Unlike animals, we humans were created with the ability to reason and to believe on that which is literal and which can be propagated through the spoken word. 2 Corinthians 4:13 “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.” When we speak by faith in accordance with the written Word of God, we release the energy that is both able to restrain and to let go that which has already been settled in heaven according to the Word of God. First we need to know the written Word that applies to our circumstance, then we need to speak that Word that is in agreement with the heavenly testimony—by faith believing that as we do so—the energy needed to transform our circumstance has been properly allocated and will accomplish the task for which we sent it out. Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth: It shall not return to Me void, but is shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Notice how God is referring to the Word that goes forth from His mouth, that which He spoke; and also that sometimes it requires a process to take place before that which He spoke comes to pass, since prosperity is a process that sometimes takes time. When we by faith bind or loose anything in accordance with the Word of God, we need to rest in the fact that the energy has already been released and the process started, that will eventually bring about the desire results. Remember that we are dealing with spiritual entities when we are binding and loosing. Angels as well as demons are spiritual creatures whose none-physical bodies are made of energy and respond to the energy that governs them, which is the Word of God, and to those who by faith speak it. Jude 9 “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’” Remember that it was through the Word, that God created everything that exists, be it physical or spiritual. So that everything must submit to the power of the Word of God, which resides in our Lord Jesus Christ.” John 16:24 “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy maybe full.” So that when we bind and we loose in the name of Jesus—by faith in His written Word—we are enforcing His Word over our physical realm, by exercising the dominion that Adam lost, but which Jesus has restored to us in His name, in this present age. The third rule of binding and losing has to do with us walking in the freedom that the forgiveness of our Lord has brought into our lives. Matthew 18:27 “Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.” Notice that at the point of salvation—delivered from a debt that we could not possibly pay—we were released, and enabled to release others that were in debt to us as well. Failure to release those who are indebted to us, puts us back into a place of bondage, powerless to free ourselves or others. Matthew 18:33-35 “Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” Notice how our Lord brings it down to the very personal level of if each of you fail to do this. Let’s examine this closer, why does the penalty seem so harsh for one single violation of this principle? Remember that we are dealing with spiritual power that is given to us in order to restrain spiritual entities, it can in no way be used against or to control human people, but the demons that drive them. At the point of our salvation, the Lord forgave us all our trespasses and released us from all our sins. Then He gave us His name and the authority to bind and to loose spiritual entities on behalf of those who are still bound by the enemy. If we are not willing to forgive those who sinned against us, then we are still in the flesh, and not in the spirit. We have authority over nothing. Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes (through binding and loosing), in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” Let us come in full agreement with the Word of God, let us speak by faith the word that binds the spirits and that looses the hindering darkness, and by all means make sure that we hold nothing against our humankind. • THE EFFECTIVE WORKING WORD | HoFM

Top of Page THE EFFECTIVE WORKING WORD 1 Thessalonians 2:13 “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” The Word of God has many functions, it created everything, sustains everything. But in a more personal level, the Word of God effectively works deliverance in those who believe in it. What is deliverance? Deliverance has to do with freedom. Since sin enslaves men, deliverance from sin is the act of being made free. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free .” Since the Word of God is the embodiment of all Truth, those who believe in the truth of the Word of God are delivered from all their sins. Deliverance from sin follows three stages; we are immediately delivered, we are continuously being delivered, and we will be delivered. The reason the work of deliverance follows three stages is because we are being delivered completely, spirit, soul, and body. Let’s take a look at the spiritual aspect first. Our spirit can never die, for the spirit that gives us life originated from God, and like God it is eternal. In our mortal human nature we are considered dead in trespasses and sin, but death when referring to the spirit speaks of separation from God. When a person dies in their sins their spirit becomes separated from God for ever, that is what is called eternal damnation. When a person becomes born again, or born of the Spirit, their spirit is immediately regenerated and will never again be separated from God. Our spirit is delivered instantly the minute that we accept the Word of Truth. If we were to die a second after salvation our spirit would rise up to God in an instant. 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” The only thing that our spirits need after we become born again is to feed in the truth of the Word of God. For a weak spirit, one who is not being nourished by the Word of God, is not strong enough to influence our souls to turn its back on its sinful ways. We need to realize that our spirits are either dead, that is separated from God, or alive in Christ through the born-again experience, there is no in between for the spirit man within each person. Not so for our souls, for they are always going back and forth depending on which spirit is driving them. When our spirit is inspired by the Word of God it motivates us to do good works. When we neglect spiritual nourishment, our soul is moved by the sensuality of this world, through the spirits of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, to do sinful things. That is why Paul is commending the Thessalonians for receiving the Word of God and is telling them this: Which also effectively works in you who believe. By using the word effectively works in you, Paul indicates that the deliverance of our souls is always a work in progress. Galatians 5:24-25 “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” If we are born again, we live in the Spirit of God who made our spirit alive in Christ, so why not also walk after the Spirit of Truth that can also deliver our souls from the deadness of this world system? Our physical bodies will not be delivered until the day when the resurrection of the dead takes place. Even if we are born again, our bodies will continue to decline and decay with the passing of time, for the Word of God declares that: Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” So that in our everyday lives, the ministry of deliverance is the process of working out of our souls its dependency to the desires of the flesh, that is why the crucifixion metaphor is used, those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since crucifixion implies a slow painful death, that is what the separation from the desires of this world entails, a slow painful death. Matthew 26:38 “Then He said to them, ‘My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.’” The hardest thing for us humans to accomplish is the death of self. Our self life is who we are and how we see ourselves. But when how we see ourselves and who we are does not align with the Word of God, there is no other choice, our soul has to die to self or lose its reward. The effective working Word of God is the only power that can bring about such transformation in us. This is what Paul told the Thessalonians, When you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God. We cannot die to our self life until we realize that our lives are not our own, for they belong to God. Reason dictates that if we belong to God, our lives should be modeled after the Word of God. As we welcome the dictates of the Word of God for what our lives should be, that is we receive them as if directly from the mouth of God, that’s when the effectively works part sets everything in motion within us. 1 Thessalonians 2:14 “For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans.” Immediately the world around them began to persecute them, just as the churches that they had modeled themselves after were persecuted. The world will always persecute those who desire to fulfill the Word of God in their lives. Now why is that? Very simple, those whose desire is for the Word of God, which is Truth, cannot be lead stray by the deception of this world system. If you don’t move with the flow of the world you become an impediment to the flow of the world. John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Hatred from the world means that the Word of God is effectively working in us the transformation that God wants to accomplish in us who believe. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation (deliverance) through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” Notice how the process begins with salvation, then sanctification by the Spirit, and all comes together by belief in the truth. Would you agree that the world is waging war against the Word of God? Here in the United States if a student takes his Bible into a public school building it would cause so much trauma to the local ACLU chapter that you would think that the end of the world had arrived. Just a lonely cross standing on a faraway hill causes enough distress to those who are under the influence of this world system, that they will not rest until they find a way to remove it. You cannot have such a disproportionate reaction to small things like those, unless it is because it offends the spirits of intolerance that are behind those who feel threaten by the presence of something that they know can delivered them from the power of those demonic influences. Think of it, that was us before we got saved, being moved by the desires of our flesh to lust after the things of this world, and to hate those who take a stand for the principles of life that are taught in the Word of God. And now as believers, are we going to tolerate these same demonic entities just so that we can be part of this world system? Of course not! But remember that deliverance from them requires us to fully commit our lives to the true teachings of the Word of God. Following with this threefold principle of salvation, sanctification and belief in the truth, we can take a threefold approach as well in our stance against these demonic entities. I call it repentance, renouncement and restoration. We repent before God for all of our sins, He forgives us and cleanses us from all of our sins. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We renounce the world and the things which are in the world. 1 John 2:15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Remember, we know that His Word is effectively working in us when the world hates us. And as we truly repent of our sins and renounce this world system, then the Lord takes it upon Himself to restore our souls to the divine setting that He originally created us to fulfill. 1 Thessalonians 3:13 “So that He may establish your hearts (souls– self life) blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.” More teachings found here: Deliverance Ministry End Times Teachings Other Teachings

  • THE MIGHTY ONE IS COMING | HoFM

Top of Page THE MIGHTY ONE IS COMING, HE WILL SAVE US. Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” There has never been a time in the history of the Christian church when so many of the signs that point to the end of times have been revealed, and when so many of the end time prophecies that precede the Lord’s return have been fulfilled. We are not only the generation that will witness the glorious return of our Lord to save us, but we are right in the end of the time that has been allotted to that final generation. The return of our Lord is imminent! It is implied in our opening text that before our Lord returns, that it would be a time of great turbulence and upheaval, for we are told that at His return He will quiet us with His love. Let us take a sober look at how the events that are taking place all around us right now fit within the prophetic scenario that is given before the return of our Lord. Zephaniah 3:1-2 “Woe to her who is rebellious and polluted, to the oppressing city! She has not obeyed His voice, she has not received correction; she has not trusted in the Lord, she has not drawn near to her God.” When Zephaniah first uttered his prophetic words, they were meant as an indictment against the city of Jerusalem and the people of Judah. But it is very clear within the context of his prophecy that there is a double meaning to his prophetic vision that clearly is applicable to what the prophet calls the day of the Lord’s fierce anger, that foretells about the end of time, as we see in the opening verses of his prophetic vision. Zephaniah 1:2-3 “I will utterly consume (make a complete end of) everything from the face of the land, says the Lord; I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks (idols) along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the land (ground), says the Lord.” It is clear from the sweeping judgments against man, beast, sea, ground, air, idols, and the wicked, presented in the opening of this prophecy, that God was clearly foretelling something more than what their present condition required. He was also speaking about the Day of the Lord’s wrath during the time of the latter days, our present day time. So that when He said in the previous verse: Woe to her who is rebellious and polluted about the city of Jerusalem of Zephaniah’s day, that He also had an end time entity in mind as well. It is very possible that the Lord is referring to a large portion of end time Christianity, what He calls in Revelation the Laodicea church. Revelation 3:15-17 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” It is clear from the context that our Lord’s focus is against Christian religious organizations of the end times that seem to be standing in their own merits and traditions, rather than having a continuous need for the Lord to be their entire focus; refusing the correction of the Holy Spirit, and not fully trusting in the Lord as their redeemer, having need of nothing. When a church entity becomes organized to the point that their bylaws and traditions take precedent over the guidance and counsel of the Holy Spirit, that church entity is in rebellion to the will of God for her and by her rebellion becomes polluted; it ceases to be a house of deliverance and becomes a house of oppressing legalism. If we think of the two thousand years church history as training and preparation for an event that will surpass every other event in human history, the coming of the Mighty One, then we can see why it is so important that the church be obedient and prepared, for we do not know how events will unfold before His return, so that we need to be in tune with His Word and with the revelation that the Holy Spirit brings to get us ready to be taken up with Him in a moments notice. Zephaniah 3:4 “Her prophets are insolent, treacherous people; her priests have polluted (profaned) the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law (did not stay true to His Word).” In the book of Revelation, the difference between the Philadelphia church that gets taken up in the rapture, and the Laodicea church that gets left behind, is that the Philadelphia church kept His Word and did not deny the Lord’s name, obviously the Laodicea church had need of none of those things, for it could stand on its own religious merits. Zephaniah 3:5 “The Lord is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness, every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, but the unjust knows no shame.” The Lord makes it very clear that even though the Laodicea church is in disobedience, that it still belongs to Him for He is in her midst, and after all, He promised His church to never leave her nor to forsake her; so if He were to abandon her that would be wrong, and He will do no unrighteousness, even if they continuously flaunt their disobedience in spite of His daily warnings against her, but they seem to know no shame. Who are these people? It is hard for me to reconcile the Christianity that I know with some of the people that are described as Christian ministers during the end of time in many of the end time prophecies. But Zephaniah gives us some great insight that will help us identify who some of these people might be, for they will be sharing some of the same qualities that the prophets and priests of his days had. Zephaniah 1:4-5 “I will stretch out My hand against Judah, and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem (for our present day interpretation this prophecy is against the Laodicea church). I will cut every trace of Baal (the false lord, or the other Jesus that they preach) from this place, (along with) the names of the idolatrous priests (Christian ministers that practice or follow pagan traditions along) with the pagan priests—those who worship the host of heaven on the house tops (astrologers); those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord (clearly referring to Christians), but also swear by Milcom (or Molech, to whom infants were offered as sacrifices during Zephaniah’s time, our present day abortionists).” We can clearly see that in end time Christianity there will be different churches, that to different degrees, will preach another Jesus, along with a different gospel that is influenced by the spirit of paganism, and that many of them will be supporters of abortion rights. And this is what they will acknowledge by their actions, the actions that will eventually bring God’s judgment upon them: Zephaniah 1:6 “Those (these are they that) who have turned back from following the Lord, and have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him.” Zephaniah 1:12 “And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled in complacency (lukewarmness, the Laodicea church), who say in their heart, ‘The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.’” If religion has a goal, it is that of pushing God out to the back so that it, religion, can become the final arbiter in any given matter. In order to do that it has to neutralize God first, to the point where God becomes a bystander, a simple observer, and therefore it falls upon religion the sacred duties of deciding what is right and what is wrong. However, this is what God says is going to happen to religion when the time for God to act finally comes: Zephaniah 1:13 “Therefore their goods shall become booty, and their houses a desolation; they shall build houses, but not inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards, but not drink their wine.” What it finally boils down to is the fact that religion cannot sustain itself in the day of God’s wrath. For the day of God’s wrath is a day when the truth is revealed, and religion is built on a myth, the myth that God is not active in man’s affairs, and that He will not involve Himself in the everyday workings of His creation. This is why the belief that Jesus is coming back soon for His church, to set up His everlasting kingdom, is laughed at by many within the Laodicea church today. But how is this for their wake-up call! Zephaniah 1:14-16 “The great day of the Lord is near; it is near and hastens quickly, the noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; there the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, a day of trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high towers.” If I can encapsulate the flavor of what the prophet is telling us, this is how I would do it: That the day of the Lord is COMING SOON! And that the day of the Lord is REAL! And that the day of the Lord if going to be a BAD DAY! The day of the Lord is a day from which we will need to be RESCUED! The only way that a reasonable person, a person that calls himself a believer, cannot understand the clarity with which the Scriptures describes the end of times, is if such a person just decides that God does not mean what he says in His Word. In other words, they do not keep His Word, because if they do they would have to do away with all of their idolatries and man made doctrines. But as usual there is hope for those of us who put our hope in Him, and who trust on the veracity of God’s Word, and not on the corrupted religious traditions of men and demons by which so many unwilling Christians are enslave into their idolatry. Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have held up His justice (Word). Seek righteousness (not religion), seek humility (realize that we are always in need of Him and His grace). It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.” There is a price to pay for being an ardent adherent of God’s Word, there is no doubt about that. We are ridiculed constantly for the fervency with which we believe the inerrancy of Scripture, many a times from our own quarters. We are defamed in many instances, not just by the world, but by Laodicean Christians that believe that our stance against compromise with the world is a hindrance to their version of Christianity being accepted by the world, even though we are clearly warned in Scripture against being loved by the world or us loving the things that the world stands for: 1 John 2:15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him.” But you see, once you start denying the parts of Scripture that hinder what it is that you want to accomplish in what you yourself believe, then what is there to keep you from removing anything else from Scripture that does not conform with your relationship with the world? Here is the reason why we need to stay true to the Word of God. This is what God promises those who endure the afflictions of their ridicule and ostracizing for our staying true, in spite of their persecution and defamation, to the Word of God. Zephaniah 3:18-20 “I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly (the condition of the Laodicean church), who are among you, to whom its reproach is a burden. Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame (those whose ministry was hindered by their slanderous accusations), and gather those who were driven out (kicked out of their churches for exposing their compromise); I will appoint them for praise and fame in every land (place) where they were put to shame. At that time I will bring you back, even at the time I gather you; for I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captives before your eyes, says the Lord.” Those who compromise the Word of God today, do it to gain the praise and fame of the world, and in a twist of irony, that is exactly what God is going to give to those who refuse to compromise the Word of God today, in the world that is to come. Satan you are a liar, in Jesus name I rebuke you, the Lord rebuke you Satan. For God has not given me the spirit of fear. Indeed, the Lord has given me the spirit of Love, Power and of a Sound Mind.
