Top of Page THE HEALING OF THE DISEASED John 6:2 “Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.” Diseased: Feeble, Impotent, Sick. All of the above are Greek meanings for the word translated diseased. We can safely surmise that powerlessness is the root cause of all those who are diseased, and that is why it is preceded by the word performed. In other words, Jesus was able to perform on behalf of those who were powerless, that which they were unable to do for themselves. Jesus strengthened the feeble, He healed the sick, and He empowered the powerless to do that which they were not able to do for themselves. No wonder a great multitude followed Him, for no matter what the sickness or the need was of anyone that came to Jesus, they were all empowered to overcome their deficiencies. John 5:46-47 “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” Jesus gave those who doubted Him and His ministry, an earth shaking revelation, one that we will do well to appreciate and understand. We humans have the tendency to focus on the actions instead of the causes. I am sure that many of those who followed Jesus did so because of the signs; they saw results, so why bother with the causes. In other words, they did not worry where the power that Jesus exercised was coming from as long as they themselves became the beneficiaries of that power. As long as they were healed it did not matter to them where the power originated from. Meanwhile, on the other side we find the ones that were questioning the ministry of Jesus, they just simply ignored the results of His ministry, for they could not accept that a single human could have been vested with so much power by God Himself. John 5:18 “Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him (Jesus), because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.” What was earth shaking about what Jesus told them was that if they had believed what Moses wrote to them, then they should have believed in Him as well, for Moses had told them about Jesus before Jesus even came to this earth. Deuteronomy 18:15,18 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear...I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and I will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.” The Jews of Jesus’ day were raised to know the Scriptures and to abide by them. They believed that the miracles that God performed through the hands of Moses happened as written in the Scriptures. They also believed and were looking for the Prophet that Moses told them that God would raise from their own brethren in the future. Now if one believes the promises that Moses wrote, and if one sees Jesus doing great signs and wonders, that which only God is able to do, the only reasonable conclusion that one can arrive at is that Jesus is the One that Moses had promised them would come. Their leaders rejected Jesus because they did not really believe deep down in their hearts the writings of Moses, that is what Jesus told them: But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words? And the majority of the multitudes that followed Jesus at first, rejected Him afterwards, by publicly demanding that a murderer be released instead of Jesus; because they saw Jesus as one who could not empower them anymore, after He had fallen into the hands of the Romans. Mark 15:32 “‘Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.’ Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.” So that both, their leaders, and many who witnessed the great wonders that Jesus performed among them, were eventually deceived and missed out on the benefits of the salvation that God had worked in their midst and on their behalf. So what are we looking for here that can help us today? Let us begin with two simple questions! 1) Do we have leaders in our midst today that profess to believe in the written Word of God, but deep within their hearts deny its power? 2) Do we have people today that follow after those whose ministry demonstrates signs and wonders, but really do not care where their power originates from as long as they get personal results? Here is the answer to the first question: 2 Timothy 3:1, 5 “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come...having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” Here is the answer to the second question: 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” Many real believers have fallen into the trap of certain ministries that project a real power and anointing, but who in reality do not fully adhere to true biblical teachings as evidenced by their carnality. And by the time those believers decide to turn away from such people, they begin to realize the spiritual damage that their involvement with such ministry caused them. On the other hand there are those who sit under ministries that proclaim the Word of God but deny that its power is for today. Those folks can never achieve their true destiny in Christ Jesus for lack of faith. So what is the answer? Here is what Jesus told the believers of His day: John 5:38-40 “But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He send, you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” In the days of Jesus there had been many others who had claimed to be the Messiah, and some of them had gather themselves many followers. So that there was a real need to be careful. But this is what Jesus told them, You do not have His word abiding in you. Their problem was that they were not living out the Word of God. But you may say, were they not searching out The Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life? They were searching out the Scriptures alright, but they could not find Jesus in them, and if they did, they were Not willing to come to Me (Jesus) that you may have life. So what is going on here? Believe it or not, at the root of this problem is law and grace. When the Jews of Jesus’ day searched the Scriptures this is what they were looking for, Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. They were looking for a King that would save them from the Romans, not a Savior that would save them from their sins. That is the reason why they could not find, or were not willing to accept the testimony of the Scriptures about Jesus. They searched the Scriptures for a King and not a Savior. It was very clear within the writings of Moses that the law condemned, and that the only remedy for sin was the shedding of innocent blood. For it was written that the soul that sinned shall surely be cut off. So here was the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world hanging on the cross, bleeding to make atonement for their transgressions, and they are telling Him to come down from there so that He can earn their faith. One cannot get anymore selfish than that! Now let us bring this lesson to our present situation. Which Jesus are you looking for today, the One who will make all your troubles disappear in an instant by coming down from the cross and cater to your every need, or the One who is making you conscious of your need to be delivered from your sinful nature? John 5:26-27 “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.” To be diseased is to be dead in trespasses and sin, in order for us to be alive we need to abide in Him, to abide in His Word, and in His grace. Once we come into the knowledge that His grace is sufficient for us, and that there is no need to follow the signs and the wonders, then the signs and wonders will follow our faith, if we dare to trust in His Word. And as we stand firmly in His grace, which also means favor, we know that all things are possible for those of us who believe, therefore we will never deny the power that is in His Word, nor limit our faith to the point of hindering the destiny that He has for each one of us who dare to trust Him to the uttermost. Top of Page STABILITY FOR OUR TIMES Isaiah 33:6 “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure.” Why do we have to go through trials? Why is it that we all must suffer indignations? It was Jesus who told us that: In this world you will have tribulations. We humans by nature, are creatures of comfort for the most part; we do not like it if gets too hot, and we certainly do not like when our feet get too cold. We can safely assume that the most prevalent of all human fantasies, and the only one whose realization has eluded humanity throughout all of its history, is the utopian fantasy of a society that is void of trouble. For millennia those who lived near the ocean dreamed and longed for oceans that were void of hurricanes, tsunamis, and of invading war ships. Those who lived by rivers, lived in fear of its drying up or of its seasonal flooding, also in the fear of armies that used rivers as a highway to facilitate their conquests. Old cities were usually built around the natural resources that allowed them to grow and to prosper, and the fear that they might lose those resources or that those resources might attract enemies, were the very cause for their anxiety and insecurity, and in many cases the reason for their demise as well; that is just a historical fact of life. Our opening verse of Scripture seems to imply that our knowledge of the fact that, In this world we will have tribulations, will somehow bring stability into the times in which we are living, whether it be the good times or the bad times. Proverbs 18:14 “The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit?” The wisdom of God will sustain the spirit of the man, and the knowledge that in all things and that at all times God is in total and complete control of whatever situation we are facing, is the hope of the soul and the strength of the salvation that God has for all of us. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” If we know that God is always working out the plan and destiny that He has for our lives, and the lives of those who love Him, then we have peace, and that peace is the strength of our salvation. Our spirit becomes sick or broken when we lose hope, and our lack of understanding is the reason why we lose our hope. We need to know deep within our souls that in order for our salvation to be strengthened, our faith must be tried, for without God’s testing in our lives we will never find the treasures that our Lord has for us all. The fear of the Lord, which is the reverence due to the promises given to us, the believers, by God in His Word, are His treasure! Abraham had to face the death of his son, the son of promise, before he could find the life of the Son of God that was promised to him in the covenant that followed his testing. A parent might ask from the depths of their bereavement, after the death of their innocent child: How does the death of my child that I loved be in any way constructive to me and to the plans that God has for my life? That is a question that only God is qualified to answer, since it was He who voluntarily gave us His most precious Son, not only to die, but to be vilified and tortured; not just physical torture, but He had to endure horrific demonic oppression to the depths that no other human had ever endured, and unlike us who are worthy of punishment because of all our sins, He endured all that He did for the sake of demonstrating His perfect love for us; that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Matthew 19:14 “ But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.’” I’ve officiated over a few funerals in my ministry life, they ranged from complete strangers that I had never met, to very close dear loved ones whose departure broke my heart. The resurrection Scriptures that I’ve quoted over the strangers that I buried would not have had as much meaning and intensity to me if it were not for the fact that they were the very same resurrection Scriptures that I’ve quoted over the loved ones that I’ve buried. Though about to be buried, I proclaimed those Scriptures over them in the hope that some day I would see them alive again in the flesh. In a gravesite service for a Christian elderly woman whom I had never met, and in the presence of a few people that included some of the workers that would be burying her after I finish the service, all of the sudden I had tears rundown my face when I spoke about the surety of her resurrection from the dead someday. The people that were present did not know that as I was speaking with conviction of faith about her future resurrection from the dead, that the Lord spoke to my heart and said to me, You might not have known who she was in this life, but one day soon you will meet her in person when I raise all my children who trust My Words from the dead. It was there that it became so real to me; for right there it hit me, the reality that we have not followed cunningly devised fables, for we were eye witnesses of Christ’s resurrection, one of the apostles said. Death may loom large above us now while on this earth, but the reality of His resurrected life dissipates all gloominess and fears, for we know that someday soon He will raise us up. Isaiah 33:10 “Now I will rise, says the Lord; now I will be exalted, now I will lift Myself up.” For us Christians, death is a non-issue , or at least it should be. I am not saying that it does not hurt when we lose a loved one, for it does; or that we should not mourn properly, for it is necessary for us to do so. Who among us has not experienced the death of a loved one or will one day experience the sting of death for ourselves? For it is appointed unto men once to die. The revelation of the knowledge that I am trying to teach here revolves around the fact that to God all live. And if we are believers of the Word of God, then according to God’s Word the loved ones that we’ve lost are not dead, and must certainly they are not lost; we have been separated from them temporarily, but they are definitely neither lost nor dead to God. 2 Samuel 12:22-23 “...While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.’” The foundation of Christianity itself stands on the fact of the reality of the physical resurrection from the dead. We do not believe in a sort of a wishy-washy existence after we’re dead that somehow coexists with the elements of nature. After we die we do not live as spirits among the trees or the mountains, not even in the clouds; as believers of Jesus Christ, after we die we go to a real place called heaven, in a new body that is given to us after we die, and we are taken before our living Savior, who is sitting in a real throne with a real physical body. And not only that but the loved ones that preceded us will be there to greet us as well, along with our Savior. And we need to know these facts if we want to enjoy rock solid stability in the face of calamities. 2 Corinthians 5:1 “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent (our physical body) is destroyed (dies), we have a building from God, a house (new body) not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Our new eternal bodies will display the spiritual qualities that our earthly bodies presently hinder, for while here in our present physical appearance we are not capable of displaying our true person. So that our person will be known in heaven to all who knew us here on the earth, even though the physical appearance of our new body in heaven might differ a lot from what we looked like here on earth. Children and infants will be grown ups for example. That is because many if not all of us, have bodies here on this earth that have been deformed by the consequences of the iniquity which our bodies have inherited, the iniquities that caused the development of our present bodies to deviate from God’s original blue print for us. But our redeemed personalities will be showcased through the perfectness of our new bodies in an incredibly amazing choreography of God’s individuality for each one of us, that will be made known to all: We will know as we are known! Isaiah 33:24 “And the inhabitant will not say, ‘I am sick’; the people who dwell in it (their new bodies) will be forgiven their iniquities.” The wisdom of knowing that we are but sojourners on this earth, and that our destiny is one of gain, peace, and perfection, brings into our souls the stability that keeps us strong through whatever adversities we must travel; for in the end, His great and precious promises are the treasure that will reward our faithfulness if we don’t give up! Top of Page I WILL GIVE PEACE Haggai 2:9 “‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of Hosts.” The literal translation for the word temple is house. Although Haggai is speaking about the rebuilding of the temple that had been destroyed, it is also referring to the physical body, which houses the spirit of man, that in a little while in their future, would be indwelled by the Spirit of God. Haggai 2:6-7 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts.” We know that Haggai’s prophecy is applicable to the end of days because it is quoted as such in the New Testament. Hebrews 12:26-27 “Whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.” The Desire of All Nations is a reference to Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit fell upon the believers on the day of Pentecost, all nations were represented in the city of Jerusalem. Acts 2:5 “And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.” So that we can see the fulfillment of Haggai’s prophecy where God said, I will fill this temple with glory, He was also speaking about filling the physical bodies of His future believers with His glory. And the part of the prophecy that said, I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land, was a reference to His second coming, as explained in the Scripture that we quoted from Hebrews. And it is within this context that He gives us the promise of His peace. I will give peace. Now as we put it all together, we have a chronology of events that paints a picture for us for the times that we are living in, and one thing is made clear to us, we are going to need His inward peace in order to get through these difficult times that it portrays. We need to pray for Inward Peace. Why do we need to pray for peace that passes understanding? Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. The things that are going to be removed are the things that are made, the physical things upon which so many put their lives and energy into. And the reason that God is going to remove them is to see if what is left still has the glory with which He filled the house of all who believe. What would you do if everything that you possess that has been made, all of the sudden is taken away from you in an instant? Will you be at peace in spite of having nothing left of the things that you were so dependent upon? Could you stand in the absence of every comfort and convenience and necessity, and still give heart felt glory to God? Haggai 2:22 “I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them; the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.” If the rule of law that governs the nations ceases to exist and anarchy reigns, and if the wealth of the nation's collapses, and if the airliners fall from the skies, and if all modes of transportation come to a halt, will you still be at peace? It is hard to imagine going through such a catastrophic scenario, but did you know that many of our fellow believers around the world are going through indescribable trials that are just as bad? There was a plane not too long ago that disappeared from the sky with hundreds of people in it, and to this date, the family members of those who were lost have no idea what happened to their love ones. Another incident, hundreds of school's girls were kidnapped by those who believe that women have no right to be educated. Those who took them by force plan to sell them as slaves. Throughout Africa, the Middle East, China, Europe, and other parts of the world, believers are driven out on a daily basis, out of their homes, and out of their lands. In many instances they become refugees in other nations where they are not welcome, others are imprisoned, tortured and murdered in the very place that they once called home. I know that the tendency of many of us is that such terrible tragedies will not take place here, wherever our here is. But perhaps many of those to whom those bad things happened felt the same way that we do now. This covid-19 is the latest incident that has stopped everything around us. Now why am I saying all this? Well, if you are a believer like me, you are looking for our blessed hope to appear, that is when Jesus returns to take us all away with Him. If you follow prophecy, you know that the signs of His return encompass a heavenly shaking that will remove all those things that have been made, so that the only things that will remain, will be the eternal things like faith, hope, love, and yes, His peace. Although we have many signs around the world that these things are already taking place, and that many of our brethren are being martyred on a daily basis, we really do not want to face these facts and refuse to acknowledge that these are the end of days that we are witnessing. Haggai 1:2 “Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”’” As you can see, the Scriptures that we are dealing with in this lesson are clearly referring to the days that we are living in right now. The majority of Christians today live in denial, and do not want to consider that the Lord is about to come because they know that the Day of the Lord involves them losing everything they own in this world. Haggai 1:4 “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” Remember that the temple, or house that lies in ruins, refers also to our physical bodies which are the temple of God, the Desire of All Nations. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” This is why we are to put all our emphasis on the spiritual qualities that are ours in abundance, for they reside in the Holy Spirit who is in us. 1 Corinthians 6:20 “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in in your spirit, which are God’s.” I’m sure you are aware of the many warnings that Scripture proclaims in regards to our relationship with this world system. That friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever is a friend of the world is an enemy of God. One sure way to know that we have fallen for the deceitfulness of this world system is if we lose our peace when deprived of worldly things. That is why God is going to remove, and is already removing, the worldly things from many of His servants all around the world, to see what is it that remains within their hearts after all that was made in this world system is removed from them. Our turn is coming; if you have a stronghold within your soul for the delicacies of this world, and if you know that your peace would be lost if you were to lose all your belongings that you’ve received from the world; then you are in need of deliverance from those demonic strongholds. You can begin by renouncing your allegiance to this world system, then take an honest look into your heart, and let God remove from you whatever it is that needs to go in order for you to regain your peace. 2 Corinthians 4:2 “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” Handle the Word of God truthfully, be honest with yourself and strive to produce spiritual fruit, for only that which is produced by the Holy Spirit who is in you will remain after He shakes both the earth and the heavens. 2 Peter 1:5-10 “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.” May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all! We can be standing right next to one, and in the natural we would not have a clue that it is even there. Top of Page GATES: SPIRITUAL PORTALS Genesis 28:16-19 “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.’ And he was afraid and said, ‘how awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven (spiritual portal)!’ Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel (house of God); but the name of that city had been Luz previously.” From the experience of Jacob that is recorded in the Scripture above, we can glean a tremendous amount of information in regards to the nature and function of spiritual portal s, otherwise known as gates. Gates Have to be Revealed! As soon as Jacob awoke from his dream, astonished by the presence of God that was there, his comment was, I did not know it. What he meant was that he had spent time in that place previous to going to sleep, and had it not been for the dream that revealed to him the significance of that place, in the natural, he would have never known that a spiritual portal existed right there in his encampment. So that the first thing we learn from Jacob’s experience is that spiritual portals have to be revealed to us. We can be standing right next to one, and in the natural we would not have a clue that it is even there. Gates are to be Respected! Now the next paragraph in the story tells us why perhaps these gates are hidden out of our natural sight, He was afraid. In nature there are places that are common and places that are special. Places of special significance are set apart because of their beauty or maybe, their historical value, or something that makes them special. So that out of respect, these certain areas are protected from common use. It is the same in the spiritual realm, wherever there is a spiritual portal, God attaches a special significance to that place, so that to those that are made aware of their existence, an awesome sense of fear and respect for that place arises within them instantly. Gates are Awesome Places! Jacob knew immediately after waking up that this place was no ordinary place, in astonishment he uttered this words, how awesome is this place. What made this place awesome to Jacob was that he found God’s presence there. We find this to be truth, that wherever there is a spiritual portal, the presence of God will be there in Spirit form. Gates are Openings into the Spiritual Realm! The physical and spiritual realm, though intertwined, are separated by walls that do not allow much interaction between the two, it is only through gate of heaven passages that such interaction is allowed to take place. Gates are to be Anointed! These gates of heavenly passages are special, not only for their importance, rarity, awesomeness, as well as for the access that they afford us to the Spirit of God, but also for the anointing that flows from them; because through these open gates God’s anointing flows. Jacob poured oil on top of it to signify that fact, for it was well known to our forefathers that it is the anointing that breaks the yoke. Gates Have Names that Designate their Assignment! As Jacob poured oil upon the rock that had been his pillow while having the dream, he called that place Bethel which means house of God, to designate that this was a gate that lead to God’s dwelling place, since he had witnessed God’s holy angels ascending and descending to the very throne of God. Gates are a Place of Spiritual Enlightenment! God’s anointing equates to God’s enlightenment, so that when an open gate is revealed, if those to whom the portal is revealed follow the proper protocol; I mean, they respect it, their in awe of their significance, they realized that a door has been opened for them to access the spiritual realm, they anoint it or make it special in their hearts. Then, their understanding will be opened to the nature (name) of that opening and they will be able to appropriate its functions. But the name of that city had been Luz previously. Although Jacob called that place Bethel or the house of God, due to his personal experience there, that place had being previously named Luz which means light or enlightenment. So that gates may go by different names to those who have their own experience, yet the function of the gate will certainly be the same. Acts 17:26-28 “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being...” Gates are all Over the Earth! Wherever men have settled on all the face of the earth, God has placed gates, and has determined their pre-appointed times, and according to His wisdom, He has set up the boundaries of their dwellings for the purpose of enticing men to seek the Lord, to seek His anointing, to seek His enlightenment, to grope for Him (if they have to, like a blind person would) and find Him, although He is never far from us. What Happens if we Find a Gate? Isaiah 28:6 “For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.” God’s enlightenment will always lead us to make the right decisions. In other words, the spirit of justice allows us to make the right judgments. The anointing on the other hand, enables us with the strength needed to turn back the spiritual battle at the source, before it gets near to us. Isaiah 29:21 “Those who with a word make a man out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court (the gate) and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.” Where is it that Satan makes his accusations against us? Is it not before the heavenly court, which is just another name for gate or portal? Do we not have access to the same heavenly court with our very own advocate by our side, even Jesus? So here is a revelation, we just found an open gate, and is the name of Jesus that grants us access to God’s heavenly court, where we can silence our accusing enemy with the blood of Jesus and by the word of our testimony. Amos 7:13 “But never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the royal residence.” Centuries later, at Bethel, a wicked king tried to silence one of God’s prophets from accessing the gate at the house of God. Read the response of the holy prophet. Amos 7:12-17 “Then Amaziah said to Amos: ‘Go, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. There eat bread, and there prophesy. But never again prophesy at Bethel, For it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is the royal residence.’ Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: ‘I was no prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet, but I was a sheep-breeder and a tender of sycamore fruit. Then the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said to me,’ ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’ Now therefore, hear the word of the LORD: you say, ‘Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not spout against the house of Isaac.’ Therefore thus says the LORD: ‘Your wife shall be a harlot in the city; your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; your land shall be divided by survey line; you shall die in a defiled land; and Israel shall surely be led away captive from his own land.’” Is that the way to talk to a priest or what? Amos, being a true prophet of the Living God, was under the anointing and enlightenment of God, as such, he understood the severity of the charges against him, by no less than the priest of Bethel, the very man who sat at the spiritual gate of the city, who was trying hard to silence him. The priest of Bethel was in violation of God’s Word according to Isaiah: those who with a word make a man out to be guilty. So that Amos rebuke and judgment against priest Amaziah was swift and harsh. I guess we can say that he nipped it on the bud, before it left the gate. Is it not what this lesson is all about? To silence the enemy and the avenger at the gate? 1 Corinthians 2:14-15 “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual (battles at the gate) judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.” Glory to God, in Jesus mighty name we thank you Lord for awesome is Your name, and awesome is Your presence at the gate. Top of Page THE DUALITY OF LIFE Revelation 22:14-15 “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.” The one thing about life is that your are either in or you are out. When the final judgment day comes it will be the same, you are either in or you are out. What decides as to whether one makes it in or out depends on what we believe. Those who believe the Word of God and try to live by its precepts will have the right to enter into the celestial city, however those who choose not to believe what the Word of God says will be left out. Faith is what casts the final vote, for even atheists believe, for they have faith in their belief that there is no God. Everyone that chooses not to believe in the Word of God practices a lie, and by their own actions they keep themselves out of the celestial city. After all I bet that you never heard of a person that wants to travel to a city that they do not believe it really exists. Revelation 22:6 “Then he said to me, ‘These words (and the fulfillment of these prophetic words) are faithful and true.’ And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.” So that it is the words that are written in the Bible and their prophetic fulfillment that we are required to believe in if we want to enter into His eternal abode; for failure to do so will keep us out forever. Revelation 22:7 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” A person that is allowed to enter through the pearly gates into the celestial city is in deed truly blessed! What is it that draws people to believe what the Bible teaches? Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” Three things are listed that progressively will lead a person to take the water of life freely, which is to have faith in the Word of God. You have to have ears to hear the invitation of the Spirit and the bride. A person who is not thirsty does not look for a drink, for there is no desire, no thirst within him. Such a person does not hear the call until there is a need. Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulations. For as it turns out, it is mostly when we are having problems or are in a desperate need that we try to reach out and hear from God; and that is God’s desire for us, that we turn to Him even if it is only when we are in need. However, once we hear Him, His desire is that we progress into thirsting for eternal things rather than the temporal things that we usually crave. As we begin to read and study the Word of God, the emphasis for our life will begin to change from that of temporal things to eternal things. Once our desires are changed, the things that we thirst for will also change, but none of that can happen until we hear from the Word of God. Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” This is why we preach and teach the Word of God, so that when there is a need in your life that the world cannot cure, and remember that the world’s cure is always worse than the disease itself. You would turn to Him who is able to satisfy you with His living waters, that once you partake of, you will never thirst again for they are eternal. In the list of those who are kept out we see a progression as well: Revelation 22:15 “But outside are dogs (unbelievers) and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.” It all begins, or should I say begin and end, with a lie, which is the absence of the truth, for those who refuse to hear the Word of God. God is truth. His Word is truth. A man’s refusal to believe in the truth makes that man a liar, and a person that is a liar is an idolater. For that person refuses to believe in the truth, or in what is real, and the purpose of believing that which is not truth or real is a delusion. Zechariah 10:2 “For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies and tell false dreams…” Idolaters are void of the truth of God’s love and the opposite of love is hate; hate that leads to the murdering of those who believe in the truth. John 8:43-44 “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” Sexual immorality is the physical representation of idolatry, which is the lusting after the things that are not really real. Things that do not offer real satisfaction, for the lusting after them is based on diluted reasoning. 1 Corinthians 10:8 “Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.” Sorcerers traffic in the trade of illusions that are manufactured through the manipulation of the human senses by external as well as internal means, as in drug abuse. Sensuality goes hand in hand with sexual immorality or in other words, the allure that they both offer is an illusion that will never truly satisfy the thirsty soul. So that none of those lying crafts or those who continue to practice them will make it into the heavenly New Jerusalem, for God will judge them. Jesus told us that it all began with them not being able to hear, for had they been able to listen to His Word, their desires would have been transformed into godly desires as the Word of God judged them internally by exposing the desires of their hearts that were based on a lie, and they would have thirsted for that which is real and satisfying instead, which is the truth of God’s Word. 1 Corinthians 5:12-13 “For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person.” Those who can clearly hear the Word of God will develop a thirst for it, and those who thirst after the Word of God will have all their desires totally satisfied, as it is written: Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely! So which side of life do you want to be on? Do you want to be in the inside of life, or on the outside of life? How you regard the Holy Scriptures will determine which side of life you end up with! The devil, the world, the secular media, secular humanists, godless politicians, godless professors, the supreme court, and everybody else that they can get to ride their omnibus, will try to persuade you not to listen or prohibit you from listening and adhering to the Word of God and to its life giving principles. Top of Page DEMISE OF THE NATIONS Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress (hold down) the truth in unrighteousness.” Would you like to know when will the final wrath of God be revealed from heaven to the people of the world? Our next verse of Scripture tells us the precise moment when it happens. Revelation 6:16-17 “And said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’” John tells us when it will happen in the book of Revelation, and Paul tells us why it will happen in his letter to the Romans. In Romans chapter one Paul is laying down a charge against the nations of the world, and his letter is addressed to all who are in Rome, the capital of the Roman empire. Romans 1:5, 7 “Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name...To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints…” In our opening Scripture Paul reveals the foundation or count number one, we might say, of God’s charge against humanity; suppression of the truth. Since the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to save people from their sins, then those who suppress the proclamation of the Gospel of Truth are guilty of the blood of all those who end up in hell. Romans 1:17 “For in it (the Gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” Of course, during Paul’s day the persecution of the saints, those who accepted the truth of God, was tremendous, for they were compelled at their conversion to turn away from idolatry and to be delivered from the demons that lurked behind the idols they had been worshiping. But there is also a futuristic aspect to the charges that Paul is laying down in his indictment of the human race, for he says that since the creation of the world this suppression of the truth has been taking place, so that there has to be a future end to it. Romans 1:19-20 “Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead (divine nature, deity), so that they are without excuse.” The They are without excuse, are all those who suppress the truth that it is clearly manifested in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, be it in self-suppression, that is suppressing the truth within themselves, or in a greater plane, suppressing the Gospel within their own families, communities, or nations. To many who lived on the west and were raised under the Judeo Christian values of just a century ago, the thought of an era of secular humanism, void of God and morals, was a reprehensible idea to say the least, and just look where we are now after two world wars and a myriad of smaller ones. We live in a world where blood thirsty tyrants decimate entire populations, including their aged and their children along with their mothers, in instances they even use chemical weapons and their violent deaths are recorded live for everyone to see, and the world just does not seem to care. Then the very ones that are behind all the mayhem and have supplied those tyrants with their support and their deadly weaponry, are treated as heroes. What is happening to us? In the midst of so much wrong there does not seem to be a right way to turn to, why is that? Romans 1:25 “Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Paul calls what is going on in our present day, in his second letter to the Thessalonians, the mystery of lawlessness. This mystery is revealed to us in our next verse of Scripture: Revelation 16:13-14 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” I believe that these three demons, that are finally exposed before the Lord destroys them, are the three forces, or influences, that drive our present-day leaders and their respective nations away from the Judeo-Christian traditions that they not so long ago embraced. There are three men whose influence upon the human race was pivotal to bring us into the chaotic situation that we find our world deep in today. They were, Darwin, Freud, and Marx; these three men, I believe, best exemplify the nature of the three major demonic influences that have brought so much havoc into our world today. Darwin with his theory of evolution and supremacy of the species, gave credence to the hatred that brought about man’s inhumanity to man, through the Nazi doctrine of ethnic cleansing, how else could well educated men have committed such atrocities unless they believed that they were doing the world a service by ridding it of inferior humans. One would think that their consciences would have pricked them to the point of realizing that what they were doing was so wrong. For how can one justify to oneself the slaughter of innocent people, specially woman and children? I guess we have Freud to thank for that, psychology and their understanding of it, enabled them to turn their guilt switch off, that is why after a long hard day of sending thousands of live innocent people to the gas chambers and their dead bodies to the fiery furnace, they could just enjoy a nice meal with their wives and family, and even go to a concert and enjoy themselves without a trace of shame or guilt for what they were doing. Proverbs 4:16-17 “For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; and their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.” The first time that I heard the above Scripture being preached on, so many things finally made sense to me. The symbolism of eating something, biblically speaking, speaks of believing a doctrine with the heart, in their case, demonic doctrines, that they took into their hearts by believing them; when they did that the demons behind the doctrines followed them inside of that persons heart. Once those demons got inside of them, they got no rest until they acted out what their belief of that doctrine required of them, for the demons are the enforcers. They could not get a good night of sleep until they caused someone’s fall, we see this played out over and over again in all levels of society today. This brings us to the third force, spirit, or frog: Marxism. Socialism, which is a manifestation of Marxist ideology, dictates that the ruling class is to make all the important decisions in regards to the rest of humanity, for they see themselves as illuminated ones who have been entrusted with the knowledge that will save everyone else if they just do what they say must be done. In other words, they see people as stupid and unable to make their own choices, so they appoint themselves to make the right choices on behalf of everybody else, whether they like or not. That is why in socialist or communist countries only socialists or communists are allowed to run for political offices, you are allowed in some instances to change the collar but not the dog. We also see this in Islamic nations that allowed elections to take place, their political leaders change, but not the religious rulers that are the ones that really control all the power. We may not realize it, but that is what many of the western democracies have become, where we are forced to endure entrenched institutions like our judicial system for example, who continuously exercise their power to change legislation that does not fit within their anti-God objectives, and in some instances they legislate from the bench the things that even the legislators themselves are unable to pass. Here in America we see this also more and more from the executive branch of government, when their agenda is rejected by the legislators, they are somehow able to implement their agenda through executive orders, thereby defying the will of the people that elected the legislators to oppose such agenda. And, this is new, in many instances the executive branch refuses to enforce the laws that they disagree with. So they make it impossible to bring real change, for it does not matter who gets elected, things never change for the better, they just keep getting worse for the real people that have to follow the rules that they make for the rest of us and that do not even apply to themselves. That is why the wrath of God will soon be revealed from heaven upon all the nations of the world, and that is why all the nations and peoples of the world will be running for their bomb shelters when the see the glorious Lamb of God coming, for that is who they have really being fighting all along. But we do not have to drink in their poison, for we are partakers of something that is far superior of what this world has to offer.
