Top of Page THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS POWER Written by Lisa Kane 4/8/2013 First know this. The actual phrases ‘Kingdom of God’ and ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ only exists in the New Testament. This tells me that this phrase belongs to the dispensation of grace, meaning the time we’re in now. Also know this, the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven are used interchangeably throughout the New Testament. The Kingdom of God is found 69 times in the New Testament. The Kingdom of Heaven is found 31 times in the New Testament. So if this is for the dispensation of grace, what is it? Let’s break down the root of the statement. According to dictionary.com, kingdom means “a state or government having a king or queen as its head.” According to dictionary.com, God means “the one Supreme Being, the creator and ruler of the universe.” And according to dictionary.com, heaven means “the abode of God, the angels, and the spirits of the righteous after death; the place or state of existence of the blessed after the mortal life.” The reason God and Heaven are interchangeable is because God dwells in us and we in Him. God is spirit and heaven is a spiritual place. Wherever God is, there is heaven and if God dwells in us and we in Him, then we’ve already begun our journey towards heaven. Think of it like this: 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” We don’t have to wait for death to happen for us to begin experiencing heaven. We have heaven now. Another thing to think about here is that when Jesus died on the cross, the temple veil was torn in two. Matthew 27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; This means that Jesus removed the separation between God and man thus bringing the Kingdom of God to Earth. So again, what is the Kingdom of God? This was so important that both of these phrases together were mentioned 100 times in the New Testament. Mark 4:11 And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, The Kingdom of God relates to spiritual power or the spiritual warfare one deals with during the dispensation of grace. Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Look how specific Matthew 12:28 is. Jesus is clearly saying that by casting out demons by the Spirit of God then the Kingdom of God is upon you. So that reaffirms that the Kingdom of God is spiritual power in the dispensation of grace. Now how does this work? First, we know that to be with God is to believe in God or as Jesus put it in John 3:3, we must be born again. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” And right after that, Jesus was even more specific by saying: John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Entering the Kingdom of God means entering into God’s power. Now let me make something clear here. Entering the Kingdom of God is different than entering heaven. Remember above-mentioned scripture in Matthew 12:28 , that by casting out demons the Kingdom of God is upon you. Remember what Romans says which brings a distinct difference between spiritual warfare and going to heaven: Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Calling on God is different than entering the Kingdom of God. Entering the Kingdom of God deals with spiritual matters HERE ON EARTH and no one can just have any of God’s power; hence there are rules to follow. The person who decides to enter into this power with God must be ready to accept the responsibilities associated with this power. Casting out demons has nothing to do with going to heaven. Once you understand that, you understand why so many people become confused and get upset when they think they can’t go to heaven or someone tells them they won’t go to heaven unless they change their lifestyle because of the sin he or she is living in. Keep the Bible simple. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved; hence that person is going to heaven. And you only have to call on him once…Jesus only died once on the cross. But if you’re beyond just calling on the name of the Lord to be saved, then you’re ready to enter the Kingdom of God, which is the spiritual power God has for His people. That means separating you from this world and entering into this Kingdom that Jesus brought to Earth with Him when He ministered during His lifetime. And to obtain that power, one must ‘enter’ the Kingdom of God. How does one enter the Kingdom of God? Matthew 21:31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to Him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you. Jesus is very specific to who enters this kingdom. As stated in Matthew 21:30 & 31 in a parable He spoke to the Pharisees, He mentions that tax collectors and harlots enter before them. That’s not to say the Pharisees wouldn’t have but the Pharisees had some internal heart issues they needed to take care of before they could enter the Kingdom of God. Another way He mentioned it: Matthew 19:24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” Luke 6:20 [ The Beatitudes ] Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: “Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Also remember above, Jesus in John 3 mentioned being born again and baptized or born of water and spirit. (John 3:3 and 3:5). Again, let’s keep in mind that baptizing isn’t to enter heaven, but it is to enter into the power of the Kingdom of God. And when do we need this power? Not when we get to heaven but while we’re here on Earth. Remember, Jesus’ ministry did not begin until He was baptized. This is very important. By the way, how does one become born again? Here’s how: Romans 10:9 New King James Version (NKJV) 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Speak up. That’s right. Speak with your mouth to God, believing that Jesus is real because God raised Him from the dead, and simply say, “I confess Lord that You are God and I ask You to forgive me of my sins. I believe You are Lord and I ask You to be Lord of my life. Thank You!” Then get baptized. Now you’ve just entered the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is power. Power to save, heal, and deliver. Key here is to LET THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACH YOU about His power. This is a personal journey you’re ready to live. Start reading the gospels and Acts in the New Testament. This will help you understand the power Jesus and His disciples demonstrated that you’re ready to begin using too. While you’re going through this journey, you’re going to find yourself faced with some serious decisions to make here. For example, God will lead you on a journey to separate yourself from the world. Here’s a list of items Paul clearly makes that you can’t participate in if you want to be a part of the Kingdom of God or a part of demonstrating His power here on Earth: 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 New King James Version (NKJV) 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. As you can see, one must separate oneself from these items to operate in the Kingdom of God. That doesn’t mean you can hate or hurt those that choose to live his or her life as a fornicator, idolater, etc. Everybody has a choice on how he or she wants to live his or her life. You yourself are looking at a change, which is why you’re reading this. How can you live moving in the power of God if you’re heart isn’t right on viewing those who need God? I’ll end with this. Show love and compassion with the above scripture. By doing this, you demonstrate and establish the Kingdom of God in you and everything around you. 1 Corinthians 13 New King James Version (NKJV) The Greatest Gift 13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. Top of Page Top of Page THE FOUR WAVES Written by Pastor Marcos Marrero Republished 7/6/21 Luke 21:25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.” If we look at the above verse from an entirely spiritual perspective, we see four places that are mentioned, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the earth, that will be hit by a great shaking, and this shaking will come in the form of waves. We obviously live here on the earth, but during those days there will be things that are happening in the entire cosmos that will clearly have an effect upon us here on the earth. Luke 21:26 “Men’s hearts failing them from the fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” When our text declares that the powers of the heavens will be shaken, it is clearly referring to both, a physical and a spiritual shaking that will be taking place during those days. Hebrews 12:26 “Whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only earth, but also heaven.’” The number four is significant here because it includes the entire creation, both physical and spiritual. The spiritual emphasis that I want to deal with in this lesson is revealed to us in the form of waves, like in the waves roaring, that is waves making loud sounds that are audible. If you read some of my works, you know that I believe that there are always four spiritual forces that work together in tandem to bring about the conditions that God requires in order to bring about His desired results in any given physical situation. Like the four horseman of the apocalypse, the four trumpets, the four seals, the four winds and so on. These waves are sometimes revealed to the saints in visions or dreams; now there are common threads that link the different revelations to one another, and there are some very unique and individual aspects of the revelation that apply only to the individuals receiving them. Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” In the Old Testament, only certain people were filled with the Holy Spirit. All of the prophets of old were filled with God’s Holy Spirit, since God is Spirit and all His works always begin in the spiritual realm. Those who are filled with His Spirit are in a position to receive the revelation of what God is doing in the spiritual realm that affects us here on the earth. In the New Testament, all the believers are filled with His Holy Spirit, for no one can be born again without being born of the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit we were all baptized (plunged) into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.” So that to His church, the body of Christ, revelation is continually flowing corporally from His Spirit that bears witness of what God is presently doing in the spiritual realm. That is why when the Holy Spirit is doing a personal work in us, it seems almost like there is a conspiracy of some sort, for we see the Spirit moving through many different venues to assure us that it is He, and Him alone, not man, who is dealing with us. And when He is revealing things to His church as a whole, many different individuals, oceans apart, will have the basics of the same revelation of what God is doing or is about to do. For that is what Amos says, God will reveal His secrets to His servants, for a testimony to the whole body of believers. My personal experience with dreams of big waves started early in 1990. Prior to my first dream, I do not recall ever hearing about dreams of big waves from any body. In all four of my dreams that covered a span of several years, there were always two things common on every dream, I knew what cardinal direction I was facing, and I was completely overwhelmed by the size of the waves that were always coming my way. In my first dream, I was facing north while standing on a sidewalk in front of a small country church. I was watching as people were coming out of the church when suddenly a huge massive wave arose from behind the little church. The wave was comprised of water and mud and was coming towards the church from behind. It was moving so fast that I did not even have time to tell the people to turn around and look, I just instinctively crouched behind a small retaining wall in the perimeter of the front lawn. I was so scared that my heart almost stopped, and I remember thinking that I was going to die by breathing in muddy water. I awoke right before the wave hit me, and realized that my body was shaking and I was breathing heavily. In the next two or three years I had two more dreams that were just a different version of that first one. On the second dream I was facing east, there was a chain link fence in front of me, when a huge wave rose up, not as muddy as in my first dream. As I crouched down and grabbed the chain link fence, I remember thinking that the impact would probably rip my fingers off, thankfully I awoke again right before it hit me. In the third dream I was facing south when a huge wave rose again as before. The dream of the fourth wave came a couple of years later. I was facing west in the South Bay area of Los Angeles CA, looking at the San Pedro/Palos Verdes hill, when out of the Pacific ocean a huge, massive wave bigger than any of the others that I had dreamed before rose up. It was made of pure crystal clear water, and just as beautiful as it was awesome. In this dream I did not fear, I did not crouch, and I didn’t wake up before the wave hit me, for even though I was very scared, I welcomed that which was coming my way. The wave went over me and through me with great energy, but I was still standing, and as I looked around, all the houses and buildings were gone, and in their place, pools of living waters were drawing in the weak and the feeble to drink freely of it. In March of 1997, I had the privilege to travel to the Brownsville revival that was taking place in Pensacola Florida. For three marvelous days I witnessed the power of God moving upon thousands of people that were gathered there for that wonderful experience. We attended the Sunday morning service before we left that day and there was a guest speaker teaching that morning. He spoke about four spiritual waves that would hit from four different directions before the Lord returns for us. Can you just picture my jaw dropping as he started his message? He spoke about a revival that was taking place in Toronto, Canada, as the wave from the north, the revival in Pensacola as being the wave from the east, the revivals that were going on in South America, as the wave from the south, and get this, he spoke about a final outpouring of the Holy Spirit that was yet to come from the west. That was over sixteen years ago, and I knew that it was from the Lord, but as you know, we walk by faith and not by sight. The spiritual decline of the last few years, not only in the churches but in the nations as well, makes it hard for me to see how and where from that final revival that I am so certain, even today, that is coming. But you know how the Lord works, just when we seem to have forgotten something that at one time seemed very important, the Lord is always there to remind us that His timing is not our timing, and that just because it has not happened yet, that it should be no reason for us to not keep looking up in excitement for what He has promised. I read a prophecy that was given by a 90 year old woman in Norway, back in 1968, to an evangelist named Emanuel Minos when he came to her town to preach. The evangelist wrote down the prophecy as she told it to him, but he thought that it was so extreme that he kept it in a drawer and forgot about it. This is how her prophecy started: I saw the time just before the coming of Jesus and the outbreak of the Third World War. Then, she mentioned four waves: This is part of what she saw in the first wave: There will be peace between the super powers in the east and the west, and there will be a long peace. Remember that she spoke this in 1968 while the cold war was raging, and it raged on until 1989. There have been 24 years of peace between the super powers of the east and west. This is part of what she saw in the second wave: A lukewarmness without parallel will take hold of the Christians, a falling away from true, living Christianity. Christians will not be open for penetrating preaching. They will not, like in earlier times, want to hear of sin and grace, law and gospel, repentance and restoration. There will come a substitute instead: prosperity (happiness) Christianity. Here is part of what she saw in the third wave: People will live together like married without being married...TV will be filled with such horrible violence that it teaches people to murder and destroy each other, and it will be unsafe in our streets. People will copy what they see. This is some of what she saw for the fourth wave: I will not see it, but you will. Then suddenly, Jesus will come and the Third World War breaks out. It will be a short war... All that I have seen of war before is only child’s play compared to this one. I wrote some of what she saw in her vision and some of what I saw in my dreams, to show those of you that might have experienced something like what she or I’ve experienced, that even though our perspectives differ greatly, there is a common thread that unites the flow of the revelations. In her case she saw peace in the first wave, when the first seal was opened after Jesus rose from the dead. The spirit of antichrist was released which is still very much at work today to bring forth a false peace. In my first wave I saw extremely polluted waters/doctrine sneaking behind the church. That explains why in her second wave she saw unparallel lukewarmness and a falling away from true living Christianity, for they are the results of demonic doctrines introduced to the church. But the key point that I want to emphasize is in the fourth wave, for that is when the powers of the heavens are shaken, and the Lord is revealed, and from her perspective she saw the start of World War Three. Now let me show you two different perspectives from Scripture about that same event. Revelation 6:12-17 “I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake (in the earth); and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon (remember our opening text) became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free men, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’” From this perspective we see that the land of Israel has been invaded by an army of a confederacy that's lead by Gog, of the land of Magog, from the uttermost north, according to Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. Most of the people that you see running for the bomb shelters in Revelation chapter six are about to be wiped out by the wrath of the Lamb as He returns to show Himself holy before the nations of the world, and to save the people and the nation of Israel from sure destruction. Acts 2:19-21 “I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” From Joel’s perspective, whom Peter quotes in Acts, we see that those who witness the supernatural destruction of this mighty army that has invaded Israel, will realize that the Lamb is real and that His judgments are true, and they will have an opportunity to repent before the great day of His wrath begins. One way to see the fourth wave is as that of the beginning of a war that will end the world as we know it. Another way is to see it as an opportunity for as many people as possible to call upon the name of the Lord and be delivered out of this world before the wrath of God is unleashed upon it, and its destruction made certain. I know that in my dream I did not fear the immensity of the fourth wave, for it brought with it crystal clear living waters for the purification of the soul, and it was made available to all those who were feeble and weak in body. Those who fear and partake of the Word of the Lord now, will not be afraid in the day when His fullness is revealed to them. If only the scoffers would repent before that day catches up to them. House of Faith Ministries (HoFM) presents a teaching on Zechariah 2:5 “For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” Top of Page IT IS THE ANOINTING OIL THAT BREAKS THE YOKE Zechariah 2:5 “For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” The ministry of anointing with oil is one of the most mysterious things that we can find in the Bible, yet it is one of the most powerful. The anointing oil can be applied to kings, to priests, to sacraments, to places, and as we see in our opening text, to cities as well. In the case of Jerusalem, we cannot see it with our carnal eyes, but God has anointed that city and if we could look through the eyes of the Spirit, we would see the anointing that covers Jerusalem as a wall of fire that surrounds her and covers her with God’s mighty protection. Isaiah 10:27 “It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” But more important of all, as far as we humans are concern, the anointing with oil has the power to deliver us from the burden of transgression and the yoke of slavery to sin. James 5:14-15 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” What is the mystery of the anointing with oil besides what might be obvious to us? I spent many a times praying for people who were in need of deliverance from demonic strongholds, and one of the many things that I learned in my dealings with those oppressive demonic entities, was how demons perceive humanity and our physical realm from their underworld perspective, we need to remember that they live in a totally different dimension than we do. I believe that when demons look at us humans what they mainly see is an aura around us that may differ in intensity as well as in color, and that is how they perceive the human condition. Since we humans are two thirds spirit and one third human, for we are made of spirit, soul, and body, what demons mainly see when they look at us, is our own spiritual orb that surround us. So that if we are walking under Christ’s anointing, and since Christ means Anointed One, when a demon looks at us under the anointing, they cannot tell whether it is us or Jesus Christ who they are facing. Luke 10:19-20 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions (demonic entities), and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.” I believe that what Jesus is teaching us in Luke 10 is that as born-again believers, born again means to be born of the Spirit of God, there is an aura around us that all spirits recognize and that they must submit to. In other words, Jesus is telling us not to rejoice in the fact that we have power over the demonic spirits, but rather, that we rejoice in the anointing that is over us and that covers us, because of our position in the spiritual realm due to the Anointed One dwelling in us through His Spirit. Psalm 105:15 “Saying, ‘Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.’” So that there is a de-facto anointing that personally covers all born again believers and that all demonic entities must recognize. But the ministry of the anointing with oil varies greatly and the greater our understanding of how it works the more powerful and effective that we can become in our ministries, and the better that we can protect ourselves, our families, and our properties from the evil one. Let us take a look at a few of the many applications of the anointing with oil. Let us begin with the anointing for peace. Jeremiah 29:7 “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” One thing that I do recommend for churches to do, and individual believers as well, is to take oil and anoint the places where your city begins and ends, what the Bible calls the city gates or entrances. The way that we did it in the past is to go east and west, and north and south of the city, and pour anointing oil on the entrances of our city and pray for God’s anointing of peace to dwell in that city where we live. Then we proceed to anoint our property lines, by pouring anointing oil all around the perimeter of what we own or rent, the place where we live, and we pray for God’s protection over it and ask for His peace to abide there as well. Why is that important? Romans 8:21 “Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” Since we, the children of God, are walking under the liberating covering of God’s anointing that preserves us from the corruption of this world, we can proclaim liberty over the part of the creation that we do occupy. How does that work, spiritually speaking? 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks (roams) about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Since wicked spirits tune in to areas that emanate gloominess and darkness, where spiritual disorder and chaos reigns, and since they roam about looking for innocent victims that they can lure into their traps without repercussions, it is important for the believers that inhabit those areas to anoint with oil those same areas that they occupy. Spirits can instantly discern the places where believers have prayed for God’s peace to reign, and if they anointed the places where they prayed with oil, that anointing oil in the spiritual realm, shines like a mighty fire from God that warns those malevolent sprits to watch out, for there is swift retribution coming their way if they trespass over the anointing that covers those areas that believers have placed under their anointing. Is the same for our homes, where we have anointed our boundaries with anointing oil, for it will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst. We are also to anoint our home with oil both inside and out, now why do we need to do that? Deuteronomy 23:14 “For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.” Just like the anointing oil shines in the spiritual realm to drive away predators, it also serves as a welcome sign for God’s holy angels that also move around the earth to do God’s bidding. But even more precious than that, God takes pleasure in walking is our midst during our times of repose, and a home or a room where the anointing oil has been placed indicates to our Lord that this place has been reserved for His presence, and that He is always welcome there. And then we are also to anoint ourselves personally as a sign of gratitude before the Lord, to show not only to ourselves, but to show others as well, and to show God Himself, that we will always belong to Him, our entire person, spirit soul and body are His habitation. Isaiah 65:16 “So that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from My eyes.” What is it in us that is hidden from God’s eyes? And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. The true anointing, for that is what we bless ourselves with while here in the earth, covers all of our infirmities and sins, the burden of sin and the yoke of oppression that is still in our mortal flesh and are driven away by the anointing oil that we bless ourselves with. Mark 6:13 “And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.” The anointing oil preserves us until the day of redemption. Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Jesus the Anointed One walked about doing good and searching for those who were oppressed by the devil, and then He set them all free, for God was with Him. 2 Corinthians 1:21 “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.” The same God that anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power to drive out all the workers of iniquity, is the same God that has anointed us in Jesus Christ His anointed One in order for us to drive out all the workers of iniquity in our sphere of influence as well. And it is through the power of His anointing oil that the yoke will be destroyed. Pray as to what type of oil the Lord wants you to use, I usually get extra virgin olive oil which I can buy in the market and is not too expensive for me, but you can use whatever is available to you and that you believe it is acceptable before God. Get the oil, bring it before the Lord and ask Him to bless it, after it is blessed do not use that consecrated oil for nothing else but for anointing purposes. Top of Page I WILL GIVE PEACE Haggai 2:9 “‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of Hosts.” The literal translation for the word temple is house. Although Haggai is speaking about the rebuilding of the temple that had been destroyed, it is also referring to the physical body, which houses the spirit of man, that in a little while in their future, would be indwelled by the Spirit of God. Haggai 2:6-7 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts.” We know that Haggai’s prophecy is applicable to the end of days because it is quoted as such in the New Testament. Hebrews 12:26-27 “Whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.” The Desire of All Nations is a reference to Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit fell upon the believers on the day of Pentecost, all nations were represented in the city of Jerusalem. Acts 2:5 “And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.” So that we can see the fulfillment of Haggai’s prophecy where God said, I will fill this temple with glory, He was also speaking about filling the physical bodies of His future believers with His glory. And the part of the prophecy that said, I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land, was a reference to His second coming, as explained in the Scripture that we quoted from Hebrews. And it is within this context that He gives us the promise of His peace. I will give peace. Now as we put it all together, we have a chronology of events that paints a picture for us for the times that we are living in, and one thing is made clear to us, we are going to need His inward peace in order to get through these difficult times that it portrays. We need to pray for Inward Peace. Why do we need to pray for peace that passes understanding? Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. The things that are going to be removed are the things that are made, the physical things upon which so many put their lives and energy into. And the reason that God is going to remove them is to see if what is left still has the glory with which He filled the house of all who believe. What would you do if everything that you possess that has been made, all of the sudden is taken away from you in an instant? Will you be at peace in spite of having nothing left of the things that you were so dependent upon? Could you stand in the absence of every comfort and convenience and necessity, and still give heart felt glory to God? Haggai 2:22 “I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them; the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.” If the rule of law that governs the nations ceases to exist and anarchy reigns, and if the wealth of the nation's collapses, and if the airliners fall from the skies, and if all modes of transportation come to a halt, will you still be at peace? It is hard to imagine going through such a catastrophic scenario, but did you know that many of our fellow believers around the world are going through indescribable trials that are just as bad? There was a plane not too long ago that disappeared from the sky with hundreds of people in it, and to this date, the family members of those who were lost have no idea what happened to their love ones. Another incident, hundreds of school's girls were kidnapped by those who believe that women have no right to be educated. Those who took them by force plan to sell them as slaves. Throughout Africa, the Middle East, China, Europe, and other parts of the world, believers are driven out on a daily basis, out of their homes, and out of their lands. In many instances they become refugees in other nations where they are not welcome, others are imprisoned, tortured and murdered in the very place that they once called home. I know that the tendency of many of us is that such terrible tragedies will not take place here, wherever our here is. But perhaps many of those to whom those bad things happened felt the same way that we do now. This covid-19 is the latest incident that has stopped everything around us. Now why am I saying all this? Well, if you are a believer like me, you are looking for our blessed hope to appear, that is when Jesus returns to take us all away with Him. If you follow prophecy, you know that the signs of His return encompass a heavenly shaking that will remove all those things that have been made, so that the only things that will remain, will be the eternal things like faith, hope, love, and yes, His peace. Although we have many signs around the world that these things are already taking place, and that many of our brethren are being martyred on a daily basis, we really do not want to face these facts and refuse to acknowledge that these are the end of days that we are witnessing. Haggai 1:2 “Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”’” As you can see, the Scriptures that we are dealing with in this lesson are clearly referring to the days that we are living in right now. The majority of Christians today live in denial, and do not want to consider that the Lord is about to come because they know that the Day of the Lord involves them losing everything they own in this world. Haggai 1:4 “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” Remember that the temple, or house that lies in ruins, refers also to our physical bodies which are the temple of God, the Desire of All Nations. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” This is why we are to put all our emphasis on the spiritual qualities that are ours in abundance, for they reside in the Holy Spirit who is in us. 1 Corinthians 6:20 “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in in your spirit, which are God’s.” I’m sure you are aware of the many warnings that Scripture proclaims in regards to our relationship with this world system. That friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever is a friend of the world is an enemy of God. One sure way to know that we have fallen for the deceitfulness of this world system is if we lose our peace when deprived of worldly things. That is why God is going to remove, and is already removing, the worldly things from many of His servants all around the world, to see what is it that remains within their hearts after all that was made in this world system is removed from them. Our turn is coming; if you have a stronghold within your soul for the delicacies of this world, and if you know that your peace would be lost if you were to lose all your belongings that you’ve received from the world; then you are in need of deliverance from those demonic strongholds. You can begin by renouncing your allegiance to this world system, then take an honest look into your heart, and let God remove from you whatever it is that needs to go in order for you to regain your peace. 2 Corinthians 4:2 “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” Handle the Word of God truthfully, be honest with yourself and strive to produce spiritual fruit, for only that which is produced by the Holy Spirit who is in you will remain after He shakes both the earth and the heavens. 2 Peter 1:5-10 “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.” May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
