Top of Page THE MIGHTY ONE IS COMING, HE WILL SAVE US. Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” There has never been a time in the history of the Christian church when so many of the signs that point to the end of times have been revealed, and when so many of the end time prophecies that precede the Lord’s return have been fulfilled. We are not only the generation that will witness the glorious return of our Lord to save us, but we are right in the end of the time that has been allotted to that final generation. The return of our Lord is imminent! It is implied in our opening text that before our Lord returns, that it would be a time of great turbulence and upheaval, for we are told that at His return He will quiet us with His love. Let us take a sober look at how the events that are taking place all around us right now fit within the prophetic scenario that is given before the return of our Lord. Zephaniah 3:1-2 “Woe to her who is rebellious and polluted, to the oppressing city! She has not obeyed His voice, she has not received correction; she has not trusted in the Lord, she has not drawn near to her God.” When Zephaniah first uttered his prophetic words, they were meant as an indictment against the city of Jerusalem and the people of Judah. But it is very clear within the context of his prophecy that there is a double meaning to his prophetic vision that clearly is applicable to what the prophet calls the day of the Lord’s fierce anger, that foretells about the end of time, as we see in the opening verses of his prophetic vision. Zephaniah 1:2-3 “I will utterly consume (make a complete end of) everything from the face of the land, says the Lord; I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks (idols) along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the land (ground), says the Lord.” It is clear from the sweeping judgments against man, beast, sea, ground, air, idols, and the wicked, presented in the opening of this prophecy, that God was clearly foretelling something more than what their present condition required. He was also speaking about the Day of the Lord’s wrath during the time of the latter days, our present day time. So that when He said in the previous verse: Woe to her who is rebellious and polluted about the city of Jerusalem of Zephaniah’s day, that He also had an end time entity in mind as well. It is very possible that the Lord is referring to a large portion of end time Christianity, what He calls in Revelation the Laodicea church. Revelation 3:15-17 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” It is clear from the context that our Lord’s focus is against Christian religious organizations of the end times that seem to be standing in their own merits and traditions, rather than having a continuous need for the Lord to be their entire focus; refusing the correction of the Holy Spirit, and not fully trusting in the Lord as their redeemer, having need of nothing. When a church entity becomes organized to the point that their bylaws and traditions take precedent over the guidance and counsel of the Holy Spirit, that church entity is in rebellion to the will of God for her and by her rebellion becomes polluted; it ceases to be a house of deliverance and becomes a house of oppressing legalism. If we think of the two thousand years church history as training and preparation for an event that will surpass every other event in human history, the coming of the Mighty One, then we can see why it is so important that the church be obedient and prepared, for we do not know how events will unfold before His return, so that we need to be in tune with His Word and with the revelation that the Holy Spirit brings to get us ready to be taken up with Him in a moments notice. Zephaniah 3:4 “Her prophets are insolent, treacherous people; her priests have polluted (profaned) the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law (did not stay true to His Word).” In the book of Revelation, the difference between the Philadelphia church that gets taken up in the rapture, and the Laodicea church that gets left behind, is that the Philadelphia church kept His Word and did not deny the Lord’s name, obviously the Laodicea church had need of none of those things, for it could stand on its own religious merits. Zephaniah 3:5 “The Lord is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness, every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, but the unjust knows no shame.” The Lord makes it very clear that even though the Laodicea church is in disobedience, that it still belongs to Him for He is in her midst, and after all, He promised His church to never leave her nor to forsake her; so if He were to abandon her that would be wrong, and He will do no unrighteousness, even if they continuously flaunt their disobedience in spite of His daily warnings against her, but they seem to know no shame. Who are these people? It is hard for me to reconcile the Christianity that I know with some of the people that are described as Christian ministers during the end of time in many of the end time prophecies. But Zephaniah gives us some great insight that will help us identify who some of these people might be, for they will be sharing some of the same qualities that the prophets and priests of his days had. Zephaniah 1:4-5 “I will stretch out My hand against Judah, and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem (for our present day interpretation this prophecy is against the Laodicea church). I will cut every trace of Baal (the false lord, or the other Jesus that they preach) from this place, (along with) the names of the idolatrous priests (Christian ministers that practice or follow pagan traditions along) with the pagan priests—those who worship the host of heaven on the house tops (astrologers); those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord (clearly referring to Christians), but also swear by Milcom (or Molech, to whom infants were offered as sacrifices during Zephaniah’s time, our present day abortionists).” We can clearly see that in end time Christianity there will be different churches, that to different degrees, will preach another Jesus, along with a different gospel that is influenced by the spirit of paganism, and that many of them will be supporters of abortion rights. And this is what they will acknowledge by their actions, the actions that will eventually bring God’s judgment upon them: Zephaniah 1:6 “Those (these are they that) who have turned back from following the Lord, and have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him.” Zephaniah 1:12 “And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled in complacency (lukewarmness, the Laodicea church), who say in their heart, ‘The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.’” If religion has a goal, it is that of pushing God out to the back so that it, religion, can become the final arbiter in any given matter. In order to do that it has to neutralize God first, to the point where God becomes a bystander, a simple observer, and therefore it falls upon religion the sacred duties of deciding what is right and what is wrong. However, this is what God says is going to happen to religion when the time for God to act finally comes: Zephaniah 1:13 “Therefore their goods shall become booty, and their houses a desolation; they shall build houses, but not inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards, but not drink their wine.” What it finally boils down to is the fact that religion cannot sustain itself in the day of God’s wrath. For the day of God’s wrath is a day when the truth is revealed, and religion is built on a myth, the myth that God is not active in man’s affairs, and that He will not involve Himself in the everyday workings of His creation. This is why the belief that Jesus is coming back soon for His church, to set up His everlasting kingdom, is laughed at by many within the Laodicea church today. But how is this for their wake-up call! Zephaniah 1:14-16 “The great day of the Lord is near; it is near and hastens quickly, the noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; there the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, a day of trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high towers.” If I can encapsulate the flavor of what the prophet is telling us, this is how I would do it: That the day of the Lord is COMING SOON! And that the day of the Lord is REAL! And that the day of the Lord if going to be a BAD DAY! The day of the Lord is a day from which we will need to be RESCUED! The only way that a reasonable person, a person that calls himself a believer, cannot understand the clarity with which the Scriptures describes the end of times, is if such a person just decides that God does not mean what he says in His Word. In other words, they do not keep His Word, because if they do they would have to do away with all of their idolatries and man made doctrines. But as usual there is hope for those of us who put our hope in Him, and who trust on the veracity of God’s Word, and not on the corrupted religious traditions of men and demons by which so many unwilling Christians are enslave into their idolatry. Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have held up His justice (Word). Seek righteousness (not religion), seek humility (realize that we are always in need of Him and His grace). It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.” There is a price to pay for being an ardent adherent of God’s Word, there is no doubt about that. We are ridiculed constantly for the fervency with which we believe the inerrancy of Scripture, many a times from our own quarters. We are defamed in many instances, not just by the world, but by Laodicean Christians that believe that our stance against compromise with the world is a hindrance to their version of Christianity being accepted by the world, even though we are clearly warned in Scripture against being loved by the world or us loving the things that the world stands for: 1 John 2:15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him.” But you see, once you start denying the parts of Scripture that hinder what it is that you want to accomplish in what you yourself believe, then what is there to keep you from removing anything else from Scripture that does not conform with your relationship with the world? Here is the reason why we need to stay true to the Word of God. This is what God promises those who endure the afflictions of their ridicule and ostracizing for our staying true, in spite of their persecution and defamation, to the Word of God. Zephaniah 3:18-20 “I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly (the condition of the Laodicean church), who are among you, to whom its reproach is a burden. Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame (those whose ministry was hindered by their slanderous accusations), and gather those who were driven out (kicked out of their churches for exposing their compromise); I will appoint them for praise and fame in every land (place) where they were put to shame. At that time I will bring you back, even at the time I gather you; for I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captives before your eyes, says the Lord.” Those who compromise the Word of God today, do it to gain the praise and fame of the world, and in a twist of irony, that is exactly what God is going to give to those who refuse to compromise the Word of God today, in the world that is to come. Top of Page THE SYSTEMATIC EXTERMINATION OF CHRISTIANITY Revelation 6:10-11 “And they cried with a loud voice, saying, ‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’ Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.” The opening of the fifth seal reveals that before the rapture of the church takes place, which by the way takes place after the opening of the sixth seal, that there will be a great slaughter of two types or classes of peoples, and then it defines who those peoples are and the reason why they were killed: Revelation 6:9 “When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the Word of God and for the testimony which they held.” Who are the fellow servants and who are their brethren, who have been numbered to die a martyr’s death before the Lord returns? In my book Man’s Final Destiny , you can read it in the books section of houseoffaithministries.org, I make the point that the souls under the altar are representative of the Jews who were slaughtered during World War II, since many of them were slain in gas chambers as a burnt offering, that is what the word Holocaust means, and that they died for the testimony which they held, they were just simply killed because they were Jews. It did not matter whether they were practitioners of Judaism or not, since so may innocent children were slain, over a million, who did not even know what religion or creed they belonged to. And I figured that the number of their fellow servants that were yet to be killed would be those Jews that would die later, before and during the invasion that sees Jerusalem surrounded by the armies of the nations of the world; and I’ve arrived at that conclusion because this is the only place in the book of Revelation where the martyrs are not referred to as dying for the testimony of Jesus, but rather for the testimony which they held, basically they were killed because they were Jews by race. But on a closer look of this passage of Scripture, it also seems to include the souls of those martyred for their Christian faith before the return of the Lord and it is symbolic, I believe, of the reunification of the blood of the fellow servants and of their brethren, upon which the original church was founded, since the foundation of the church included the shed blood of both the Jews and the Gentile believers; hence, there is a prophetic implication here of their final unification as one body, the body of the Lord, before He returns to execute His final judgments. Luke 21:17 “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.” The present-day persecution and the hatred perpetrated by the entire world against the Jewish people has been clearly documented and the evidence is irrefutable, just look at the United Nations record and see who it is that they continuously condemn and disapprove of unfairly. What is not clear to many today is, that right now, there is a systematic extermination of Christianity going on, and in many instances we are just talking about nominal Christianity, this persecution is not like the one that has gotten many Christians killed for their fervency and persistency in proclaiming the Gospel in hostile areas, no, this persecution going on right now in many parts of the world is for the simple purpose of eradicating Christianity itself by killing those, like they did the Jews before them, that are Christians even if in name or heritage only. And what might be the most appalling thing in all of this is, that our very own government, the US by its policies, is aiding and abetting the very evil that is taking place against the church of Jesus Christ. In Iraq for example, there was even under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, a large and healthy group of Christian communities. Ever since we liberated that country, those of the Islamic faith have used their freedom, which they did not have under the previous regime, to kill and intimidate Christian communities that have existed there since before Islam was even a religion, to the point that over half of the Christian population has fled the country and many have died, and before long there will be no traces of Christianity left in that nation. We see the same things taking place in Afghanistan, where our soldiers and those of the coalition are still fighting and dying to promote the freedom of those who want to eradicate Christianity forever. Egypt has one of the largest Christian populations of any of the Arab nations in the region, we just gave them some of our very best war planes plus billions of dollars; in thanks for our standing behind their rights to be free from a brutal dictatorship and supporting them with our weapons and treasure, they pay us back by torturing and killing Christians for the purpose of intimidating them to flee the cities and villages where their families have lived since the days of Jesus. The Palestinian areas where many of the Christian holy sites are, and where many Christians have lived for two thousand years, has been decimated buy kidnappings, torture and terrorism against those of the Christian faith so that right now the Christian population of many of those areas is nonexistent. All the while our hard-earned money and support is helping to feed and clothe those who commit these atrocities . Jeremiah 34:17 “Therefore thus says the Lord; ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, everyone to his brother and everyone to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim liberty to you’, says the Lord—‘to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine! And I will deliver you to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth.’” Luke 6:38 “...For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” There has always been the persecution of those, who belong to God either by word or deed, beginning with the first martyr, Abel, whose righteous blood still cries out from the ground for God’s vengeance to be executed on its behalf. The question that we must ask is this: When is the number of both the fellow servants and their brethren who are to be killed completed? Genesis 18:23 “And Abraham came near and said, ‘Would you also destroy the righteous with the wicked?’” In the narrative over the pending destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah Abraham engages in a numbers game with God, in other words, Abraham wanted to know what the ratio of believers to unbelievers in those cities would have to be to bring about the final judgment of God. Genesis 19:4-5 “Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.’” There was one righteous man left in that city and his name was Lot, and because of Lot’s refusal to give into their depravity, they were ready to do away with him. Genesis 19:9 “And they said, ‘Stand back!’ Then they said, ‘This one (Lot) came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.’ So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.” It is obvious from the context that there was no room left for Lot in that city, it was compliance and conformance to their way or else leave or be killed. Notice what their charge is against Lot, and the reason they intend to harm him, he keeps acting like a judge, in other words, who are you to tell us what is right and what is wrong. There are so many parallels here that is scary. First you have a worldwide religion in Islam that, in many instances, when they become the majority rule in the country or in the community as cited earlier, is either what their religion demands, which is total submission to them, that is what the name Islam means by the way, or the only other options are death or exile. The other parallel here that is so frightening is, that in the western nations where traditional Christianity provided what we could say was a model for government, for it offered its citizens freedom for and from religion, that also included freedom of speech and of choice, have now become ensnared in the trap of secular humanism, which demands of its adherents total and complete subjugation to their philosophy, and if you disagree with them because of whatever reason, then, you are classified as a bigot, homophobic, intolerant person that needs to be dealt with. Luke 17:28-30 “Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” So that we have a flurry of nations that are forcibly removing from their ranks right now, any trace of Judaism and Christianity, and we have nations that have already done so; and in what is supposed to be the nations that were built on the Judeo-Christian values of Bible teaching, we have a total and complete rejection of the moral and ethical principles upon which they were founded. So, getting back to the numbers game, it is hard for me to see this trend changing anytime soon. There is no enforcement of the moral code of right and wrong anywhere in the world, nations just keep getting away with their evil deeds against those who have no say. I do not see a principled nation that is even able to speak on behalf of the innocent who are being slaughtered, even less one that is able to do something about it. Here in the United States the tales of the horrors that take place in the abortion mills has come to light in the trial of a doctor accused of murdering infants that were aborted but still alive, how their spinal cords were snipped with a scissor or flushed down the toilet while still alive. In another tape you can hear a doctor tell the pregnant mother that her almost full term baby will be killed inside of her before is aborted, she asks him, does that mean that I would have a dead baby inside of me? To which the Doctor responds, think of it as meat in the crock pot. Remember what they said to Lot? Who made you judge? Well, I definitely do not want to be part of this wicked and corrupt generation, I do not want to be a partaker of their judgment, so while I am here, I will not cease to expose their works of darkness to the light of God’s Word. So that when the Son of Man is revealed, I, like Lot, will be ushered out of this Sodom in a great hurry by God’s angels, before God’s destruction rains down from heaven upon this wicked and perverse generation. Revelation 6:14-17 “Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’” God has not appointed us to wrath, thank You Lord! But Jesus did say that in this world we would have tribulation; my definition of tribulation is that of what men do to those they persecute for believing what the Word of God says, like what I have been teaching here in this lesson. My definition of wrath is what God does to those who persecute His children that believe what the Word of God says. And it is not pretty what God will do to them. So here are the choices: believe the Word of God and suffer persecution, for many of us here in the west is just verbal and situational persecution right now, and who knows maybe not for long, but for many Christians today who live under the rule of mad man, their persecution is very real, and their trials are excruciating, but their future is very secure, for wherever they go they are God’s holy property. And if you choose to conform with the world for the sake of not being out of step with societal evolution, you will end up wishing that you were under a pile of rocks with a bunch of losers, not that that is going to help you in anyway, for after all, hell is hell forever, whether you believe in it or not. House of Faith Ministries (HoFM) presents a teaching on 1 Corinthians 1:19 “For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.’” Top of Page THE AWAKENING 1 Corinthians 1:19 “For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.’” The twentieth century witnessed the unleashing of man’s ingenuity in such a remarkable way that life as it existed for thousands of years was radically changed forever. I could say, and not be too far off, that in the twentieth century, we, speaking of the human race, became of age. I have neither the desire nor the abilities to enumerate all the history, discoveries, and events that came together to make the twentieth century such a pivotal time in human history; from the industrial revolution to two world wars, to the splitting of the atom, and the space race that lead us into the technological age of cyber space, but I know that in all of this, God’s final plan for the human race was being intelligently crafted by divinity in accordance with what the prophets of old had foretold. Daniel 12:4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” Nothing happens on the earth unless it is first released from heaven. It does not matter how wise and learned men of old were, or how dedicated to their crafts, or how many resources they had available to them, if it was sealed in heaven, all of their human endeavors did not suffice. After Jesus rose from the dead and was taken up to heaven, He took possession of a scroll that contained written things within and on the back, that had been sealed with seven seals. Revelation 5:3 “And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.” It seems that only an immortal human of divine origin, one who could save and make other humans immortal like Himself, was qualified to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals, since its unveiling unleashes upon the human race the symphony of events that eventually propels God’s final judgments upon all human mortals. The first seal was loosed right after Jesus took possession of the scroll after arriving in heaven, it released the spirit of antichrist upon the world stage. The antichrist himself will not be revealed until that which hinders him from being revealed is removed. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work (the spirit of antichrist has already been released); only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one (the antichrist in person) will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” The second seal was loosed from heaven during the twentieth century and that is what brought about the second world war and the technological breakthroughs that ensued. Revelation 6:3-4 “When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, ‘Come and see.’ Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth (world war II), and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword (technology).” You can probably trace the origin of many, if not most, of the technological advancements of today to the events leading to and surrounding the second world war, for that is when the unveiling of the second seal took place, according to the divine plan. If we tie the first two seals together, we get the antichrist type leading the world into a colossal war that increases human knowledge to levels not even dreamed of by the preceding generation. Revelation 6:5-6 “When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, ‘Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, ‘A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.’” The results of the first two seals opened the door for a new world order, something that has been the unreachable dream of the elite world luminaries for centuries, but with this open door their dreams of a revived roman empire that rules the world has become a very possible reality. In order to facilitate a one world government, they need to have a one world economy, and to achieve that they need to implement a one world financial system that regulates the world economy; according to the golden rule, he who has the gold, makes the rules. Revelation 13:17 “And that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” We are in the midst of the unveiling of the third seal right now, it is taking place before our very eyes. All the pieces are falling rapidly into place awaiting the unveiling of the fourth seal that will feature a war over one fourth of the earth, the invasion of Israel by a northern confederacy. Israel is the last obstacle that stands between them, those who think they own the earth, and their dreams of declaring earth’s independence from the rule of God. It is all spiritual, since Satan was thrown out of heaven he has been looking for a place to call home; the earth belongs to the Lord, but man has been given dominion over it, the devil has duped, through the spirit of pride, those who think they can run the earth better than God, through the agency of human intelligence, for they truly think that they know better than God how to run the earth. 1 Corinthians 1:30 “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” All the spirits know that if you are going to rule the world you have to do it through the agency of a human man, that is why the Word of God had to become flesh, in order to infuse into humanity’s mind the wisdom that comes from God, the wisdom that redeems, sets apart for God, and makes right with God those who choose allegiance with God. Revelation 13:2 “...The dragon gave him (a human being, the antichrist) his power, his throne, and great authority.” The spiritual battle that rages now in the heavens will be fought here on the earth by the human Son of God who is indwelled by the Spirit of the living God against the spirit of Satan, the dragon, that will one day be revealed in the human antichrist. It will be a one sided battle: Whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. This is the truth that brings the awakening, and it is what the first chapter of first Corinthians is all about, whose wisdom are you going to trust? 1 Corinthians 1:20 “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” How did God make foolishness out of the wisdom of this world? He told them ahead of time what was going to happen, when it was going to happen, and how it was going to happen. Nothing happened without His hand allowing it to happen first. These empty headed illustrators really think that they’ve actually thought of all these things and that they have created by the power of their own intellectual prowler. 1 Corinthians 1:21 “For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.” Imagine the simplicity of the message that was preached confounded the wisdom of the wise and brings to us an awakening to the revelation of what God is doing in our present time. 1 Corinthians 1:25-26 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.” And here is the reason why God does it this way. 1 Corinthians 1:29 “That no flesh should glory in His presence.” I believe that we are now ready to experience the great spiritual awakening that the prophets of old predicted for the last days. Humanity has been sold a bill of goods that predicted that man’s salvation was going to come as the result of technological advances. Knowledge is power, in God’s case, knowledge of Him and of His Word brings liberty to those who live and practice His Word. Knowledge of the populace in the hands of the world gives the world the power to enslave the masses. Everything about us today is known to the government, and that knowledge has been used already to deprive many Americans of their constitutional rights. But the majority of that knowledge awaits for the restraining power to be removed, as prophesied by Paul, so that it can be used to coerce, intimidate, and blackmail law abiding citizens into conformance with their new world order. Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul…” Top of Page FRAGMENTED SOULS Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul…” What is the soul and where does it reside within me? Does my soul need restoration? What is a fragmented soul? Psalm 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite (give me an undivided heart, singleness of heart) my heart to fear Your name." Within the Biblical context, the heart is the symbolic dwelling place for the spirit within us. And since our souls and our spirits are both spirits, they both dwell within us in a place called the heart, not our physical hearts. The physical human heart is strategically placed within our chest cavity, the torso, and from there it disseminates the oxygen rich life-giving substance that is in our blood. Our spiritual hearts are also located in a cavity somewhere within our torsos; however, it is an invisible place that is strategically located within us and from it flows the spiritual life and well being that comprises our persona, with its attitudes, intents, wills, and emotions. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Just like our human bodies can live and function without limbs, it appears, by the usage of the word whole by Paul, that our spirits and souls can exist and function as well while fragmented and weakened. Just like a human body can only achieve its full potential when all of its parts are present and functioning properly, it appears that it is the same way for our spirits and souls. They can only achieve their full potential when they are whole. However, unlike our human bodies that may be missing a limb or a physical part that they have to do without, it seems like our souls do not lose a part, but rather, their parts become separated or fragmented from one another. Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted (fragmented hearts, to heal means to restore to its original settings) , to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” A brokenhearted condition, fragmented soul, causes those who are afflicted by it to be hindered in their walk. T hey become captives to their condition, blinded and unable to see clearly where their malady originates from, and therefore become oppressed by their circumstances. The good news of the Gospel is that fragmented souls can be healed! 1 Peter 1:9 “Receiving the end (goal) of your faith—the salvation (deliverance, healing, restoration) of your souls.” Not only can our fragmented souls be healed, but our goal should also be in life to attain singleness of heart. So that we can fully comprehend what is the fear or respect for our Lord’s name, which is the beginning of wisdom. How do we do it? Let me first deal with the difference between our soul and our spirit, although our emphasis in this lesson is the fragmented soul, it is important for us to know how the two interact. Unlike a fragmented soul, where its integrity is breached and its parts become segregated, I believe that the spirit operates more in the sense of an energy flow. A spirit with a very low flow of energy cannot energize the human soul to the point of being able to restore it. A spirit that has a very strong energy flow makes it a lot easier for a fragmented soul to be restored. The word for spirit, as in your whole spirit is the Greek word Pneuma from where we get the term pneumatic tool from. Pneuma means spirit, a blast or a current of air that drives something. The word for soul, as in your whole spirit, soul is the Greek word translated as Psychic, from where we get the word, psychology, the study of the human personality or mind. It means spirit as well, air/spirit that is static and waiting to be moved by a current or inflow. A rudimental way of saying it, our souls are like an invisible motor that runs on blasts or currents of air/spirit. When a person is influenced or inspired by something, that person is receiving an inflow that is moving the soul, an invisible inspiration or spiritual infusion. A soul becomes fragmented when it realizes that it has been motivated by a lie. A lie is a spiritual force that drives people away from the truth. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Jesus told us that the words that He speaks to us are spirit and that they are life, and that by believing them, His words, our souls can be made free from the power of the lies that fragmented the soul to begin with. John 6:63 “It is the Spirit (Pneuma) who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” In order to heal the fragmented soul our spirits have to be born again. Born of the Spirit of truth, for it is the truth of the Word of God that is able to infuse into our spirits the level of energy required to then motivate the soul to let go of the lies that divide it. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living (Zoe in Greek, and it means life giving and life sustaining, like spiritual blood) and powerful (Energea in Greek, and it means energy), and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” So that it is the truth of the Word of God that energizes the born- again spirit, which in turn motivates the soul to seek deliverance from oppression and bondage. It happens as soon as the soul’s spiritual eyes are opened to the truth that it has been fragmented by the lies it was told. Everything in this world system is based on a lie. Romans 1:24-25 “Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts (fragmented their souls), to dishonor their bodies (caused their bodies to malfunction) among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Our bodies malfunction as the result of our souls becoming fragmented, and our souls become fragmented when we reject the truth of the Word of God and end up falling for the lie. The fragmented soul can only be healed and restored as the result of an individual rejecting the lie that it believed, and embracing the truth of the Word of God, which is what spiritual discernment is all about, seeing our true condition in the mirror of His revealed Word to us. Our children as well as the rest of us face constant indoctrination attempts from the purveyors of the lie. In schools as well as through television programs we are constantly bombarded with the notion of evolution. You hear them say frequently that millions of years ago this happened and that took place, like they were there you know. These are the same people that can not even get the recent historical events right. I can disprove the theory of evolution very easy, if as they often say that we humans are the parasites that have infested this world, then why are they still here if they really believe that? In their pious pomp would they not have castrated themselves and saved the world for the sake of the animals that they worship? They don’t really believe that. They just want us to believe it so that they can feel superior. Galatians 5:12 “As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!” NIV Once our spiritual eyes are opened to their mischievousness, for they do not really want to liberate people with knowledge of the truth, but rather their aim is to imprison people with their lies; then we are free to receive the liberating truth of God’s Word that make us wise. On a personal level, we have to deal with the lies that have been perpetrated against us by the people that we knew and who were responsible for our upbringing. With the grace of God to aid us, we need to realize that many of the lies that we were subjected to as we were growing up, were non-intentional on the part of those who taught us to follow the ways of this world. For the most part they did not know what they were doing to us. They were just teaching us what they had been taught in many instances. We need to forgive in order to receive the knowledge that leads to our deliverance from the institutionalized lies of this world system. Why is it necessary to rid ourselves of man-made traditions that seem harmless even to some of us today? Anything that aided the fragmenting of the soul will keep the person whose soul was fragmented from receiving the goal of their faith, the deliverance of their souls. Psalm 24:3-5 “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure (undivided) heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” The word sworn literally means to affirm oneself. Within the context, sworn deceitfully, it simply means to continue practicing and believing something that is not truth. Those who continue to practice the lies that this world system espouses will not receive blessings from the Lord. The spiritual blessings that empower us to walk in the righteousness of the salvation that He has granted to us by His mercy and grace. To make our souls whole again we must rely totally on the promises offered to us by God Himself within His Word. When our souls can truly and confidently declare what our last verses of Scripture for this lesson say, then you will know that your soul has been healed to the max. Psalm 26:4-5 “I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, nor will I go in with hypocrites. Top of Page A SPIRIT OF DEEP SLEEP HOVERS OVER AMERICA Isaiah 29:10 “For the Lord has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; and He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.” These are indeed difficult times for the faithful here in America, it does not take a political or economic expert to realize that our nation is in great trouble. Morally speaking it’s even worst, we are bitterly divided, and have lost our sense of direction, and it does not look as if it’s going to get better anytime soon. In our Scripture it declares that a spirit is the culprit, a spirit of deep sleep. Now within the context, Isaiah is speaking to Jerusalem, the city of David. But within the greater context, Isaiah’s prophecy can be applied to any great nation that has lost its moral compass. Is there any doubt about America’s greatness? Surely not. Is there any doubt that America has lost her sense of direction? Not from where I’m standing. In this chapter Isaiah is lamenting about the blindness that is caused by disobedience. When persons as well as nations betray the founding principles upon which they were called and/or built, they become blinded to their mission, and become bitterly divided within themselves. The question that I asked when I first read our Scripture, was basically this, what came first? The spirit of deep sleep that closed the eyes and covered the heads of the seers. Or was it the silence of the prophets and seers that allowed the spirit of deep sleep to enter? Some may say, it does not matter at this point. But for me it is important to know, because it is through understanding that wisdom materializes, and it is wisdom that affords us a way of escape, if there is one to be found. Isaiah 29:9 “Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind…” Let us pause and wonder here for a moment. How does a nation blinds itself? By refusing to follow its destiny! Here is where I, as a Christian, disagree with many secular conservative pundits. America is a great nation not because of the many great men and women of her illustrious history, who had great forth sight into the founding and direction that this nation was to follow, and we did have them, thank God. But that is not why America is a great nation, America was destined to become a great nation by God, and I maintain, that the founding fathers knew that, and that is what made them great, they understood the will of God for the nation that they were founding. Isaiah 29:13 “Therefore the Lord said: ‘Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.’” Have you notice how politicians here in America, after giving some great speech to their constituencies always seem to end with the phrase; God bless America. They honor God with their lips, but they really do not desire God’s will for America in their own hearts. If they did, they wouldn't be doing the things that they do behind our backs. Isaiah 29:15 “Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, and their works are in the dark; they say, ‘Who sees us?’ and, ‘Who knows us?’” If there is a price for a Bible verse that most reveals how our political process works now days in America, I think I have the winning entry. What was it that the former speaker of the house once said? You have to pass the bill if you want to find out what’s in it. We are finding out alright, and it's not good, so, is par for the course. But here is where we really get into trouble; Fear toward Me (this is what God says) is taught by the commandment of men. Today, morality in America is taught by those whose hearts are far from God. The entertainment industry, whose primary goal is to please their audiences and to make money, are the main drivers of our present-day culture. Pundits who are more worried about ratings than what God says, are telling us, Bible thumping does not work, basically they are saying, keep your God out of it, after all we have made our own moral codes and they are based on the commandments of man, passed by legislators and judges who do their best works in secret, out of the people’s eyes. So, if in spite of all these facts , the citizens of America decide to follow their counsel, then, blind yourselves and be blind! Isaiah 29:14 “Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work among this people, a marvelous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” This is how we can confirm that our nation is under a spirit of deep sleep; there is no one left on the scene that is wise or prudent enough to get us out of the mess we are in. The more they try, the deeper in the hole we get, is almost like quicksand . Every time we try to make our situation better by some legislative maneuver, it seems to work against us, and it just makes it worst, we just keep getting deeper in debt. Isaiah 29:8 “It shall be even as when a hungry man dreams, and look—he eats; but he awakes, and his soul still empty; or as when a thirsty man dreams, and look—he drinks; but he awakes, and indeed he is faint, and his soul still craves: so the multitude of all the nations shall be, who fight against Mount Zion.” Boy it cannot get any more real than what the Lord says; its like living in a dream, isn’t that what happens when you are under the influence of a spirit of deep sleep? We kid ourselves that everything is going to be alright in spite of the mess we are in, we believe it, and reassure ourselves of what we believe, but then we wake up and look at the facts, and man, it keeps getting worse, how is that for reality? One of two things will happen to us, either we as a nation wake up and repent, and ask the Lord to forgive us for deviating from the destiny for which He created America, or the Lord returns and takes the faithful away while He judges the ungodly for their ungodly acts that they have committed. Which one will it be? Well, if we repent this is what will happen: Isaiah 29:24 “These also who erred in spirit (of deep sleep) will come to understanding, and those who complained will learn doctrine.” What a beautiful promise, but here is the key; we have to come to an understanding of the truth before we can learn doctrine. Is America a special nation that God ordained to shine His light during trouble times? Yes, that is the truth! Is America currently living up to the founding principles for which God created her? No she is not, and that’s the truth! What if we do not repent as a nation? Isaiah 29:6 “ You will be punish by the Lord of hosts with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with storm and tempest and the flame of devouring fire.” The choice is clear, and no matter which pundits approve or disapprove, or what politicians or other groups are offended by our stance, our foundation is in the Bible and the confidence that we have on the inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures. Let not our speech be timid, for we have the truth on our side, so let us proclaim it boldly, for we do love this nation, and when we ask God for His blessings upon America is not a slogan that we say to incur favor with people; it flows out of a deeply thankful heart that realizes that without God’s favor upon them, the nations languish in spiritual darkness until they perish from the face of the earth to be no more.
